THE STUDENT’S IDENTITY MAKES A DIFFERENCE IN ACADEMIC LEARNING. Nowadays education system has applied a widespread curricula, it does not focus in the real context, and students’ necessities consequently, we have students that only follow paths without own thinking or active and creative knowledge. Thus, I believe that the best and real learning opportunity is when teachers create a wide difference in academic learning such as the quality of education, centered on the student’s identity thus, the present work focuses on the student’s identity makes a difference in academic learning because there is a strong connection between identity and academic learning.
On the one hand, academic learning is an important aspect inside of teaching learning

Do I have the identical students? Are students identical? What influences student’s identity? In order to solve some doubts, the author reviewed some literature: “Identity: who a person is, or the qualities of a person or group that make them different from others” (Cambridge, s.f.) According to this definition, students have individual differences and each one is a world, everyone has a different reality, living in a different time, and place. “You have to make that social and emotional connection with kids in order to get inside their heads. The fact that you care makes them see you differently”. (Douglas, 2000) Therefore, student’s identity is an important aspect to identify why our students have difficulties in the teaching-learning process (academic dimension) ; with other words, teachers with a wide expectation of teaching- learning process use effective – strategies (student’s identity )to create a good environment inside a classroom that helps their students becoming a self- directed learner, but without forgetting that inside this process should mediate four fundamental axes: students, teachers, parents, and community members in order to solve difficulties in teaching learning
In this assignment I am going to cover the aspects of my learner identity by referencing to relevant texts and ideas. A learner identity is the way in which an individual processes and makes sense of educational information and here are my thoughts on my learner identity.
The identity theory of mind holds that states and processes of the mind are identical to states and processes of the brain thus particular psychological states are identical with particular type of physical state. Many objections have been lay out by philosophers who have evaluated this theory one objection that is particularly strong is the Martian and octopus criticism which state that if identity theory is true, than these species should not feel pain, but if they do feel pain than identity theory is not true.
There are many aspects of identity in the poem “Sex without Love,” by Sharon Olds. I can relate my own thoughts to how the author views the subject that she talks about in this poem. There has been a situation in my own life where I was thinking to myself, just as the author was, “How do they do it, the ones who make love without love?” (Olds 740). Having been raised as a well-rounded and disciplined person, as well as religious, I know the discouragement of having premarital sex. It’s not just the immorality that these characters are experiencing that the author is talking about, but they probably have personal issues that have to do with a their self worth and identity. These characters think they know what love is, but the truth is that they are in denial of what they are really doing.
Although the idea of oppression is thought poorly of today, it wasn't always considered terrible. As oppressed people gain knowledge, the information gained accredits and delivers identity that an individual can become more than what society expects of them. Identity is one of the direct products of education, an essential part of life that determines character and gives opportunities; yet at the same time creates danger. That is the frightening part. The authors Frederick Douglass, Maya Angelou, and Sherman Alexie demonstrate previously stated principles through similar appeals of logos and pathos, presented in different ways.
The concept of identity and social locations according to Kirk & Okazawa-Rey's Identities and Social Locations: Who Am I? Who are My People? is that Our identity is a specific marker of how we define ourselves at any particular moment in life. Identity formation is the result of a complex interplay among individual decisions and choices, particular life events, community recognition and expectations, and social categorization, classification, and socialization. (Kirk & Okazawa-Rey). The point where all the features embodied in a person overlap is called social location. Social location is a way of expressing the core of a person’s existence in the social and political world. (Kirk & Okazawa-Rey). With identity, it may seem tangible and fixed at any given
Identity is a clear idea of your own personal likes and dislikes that have been formed from a lifetime of experience. From when you’re little you start forming your own personal identity from things that have happened to you and the people that make these things happen. The way that you react to these experiences define who you are as a person.
Identity. What is identity? One will say that it is the distinct personality of an individual. Others will say that identity is the behavior of a person in response to their surrounding environment. At certain points of time, some people search for their identity in order to understand their existence in life. In regards, identity is shaped into an individual through the social trials of life that involve family and peers, the religious beliefs by the practice of certain faiths, and cultural awareness through family history and traditions. These are what shape the identity of an individual.

Current research suggests some theorists believe identity as something essential, substantial, fixed and essentially invariable. Yet other modern theorists consider the creation of identity as existential for each individual, using the personal responsibilities for ones own actions which create ones own moral values. Identity in modernity is associated to individuality to developing a uniquely individual self.
1. The identity theory (reductive materialism) states that mental states are brain states. Basically each mental state/process is the same as the physical state or process(es) within the brain. What they say about the mind is that the mind is just the brain and mental states are brain states.
The curriculum taught in schools has a huge effect on a developing person’s identity. Through schooling we tend to call into question the things that we believed to be true as children....
In today’s society, there has been a greater emphasis on identity than in the past. The perception of identity has changed due to the growing human population, and being able to distinguish oneself from the general population. Identity is the uniqueness of a person. As people get older, their identity might change since they become more aware of the society and also are more independent. By creating and recognizing an identity, one can interact with others who have a similar identity. Identity can be formed socially. There are several factors that influence an identity.
Ms. Gruwell, an extraordinary teacher, saw potential in her students when no one else had. She succeeded at guiding them to make better decisions and bringing them together. However, although a seemingly daunting and impossible task, Ms. Gruwell’s teaching methods can be applied to all teachers and classes and are not impossible; her intervention can effectively be implemented by any teacher. Realistic Conflict Theory and Social Identity Theory are applied to describe the various conflicts in Ms. Gruwell’s class, and how she overcame such conflicts with multiple exercises and tremendous concern for the well-being of her students.
Does the student’s identity is only student? Absolutely not, identity make people different with others, student identity may be the majority characteristic, while their have many other groups that we could belong to, some of which are easily to see from appearance, some are inside our mind that even ourselves could not notice. And they are not constant, like our taste on food changes in different stage of our lives. Sometimes our identities changes because of the change in one main identity like my student identity transformed from high school student to university students, which changed my other identities less or more during the first year in college.
