Introduction “Prevention is better than cure” This is one of the most famous proverbs which is related to us in our everyday life. It teaches us to maintain a healthy, disciplined, and tension free lifestyle in order to remain away from any health issues or diseases. It is easy to follow prevention methods and to be safe from any problem. However cure is a while dangerous for our health as it does not give surety of complete wellness once we get suffered from some problems. Like that the best way to deal with discipline problems in schools is to prevent them from happening in the first place - Marzano (2003). INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES For most of the teachers, dealing with student misbehaviour in the classroom takes up a considerable amount of teaching time, which in turn affects the quality of the student’s learning experience. There are various strategies that can be used to deal with students’ behaviour in the learning environment. However, a teacher must bear in mind that the problems related to misbehaviour is very common in class rooms and the success of a teacher depends on how to emulate and effective strategy to address the problem. Once the problems are assorted, it would prove easier to evolve strategies as remedial measures. Each and every aspect of the student must be taken into consideration while formulating the strategies. The teacher, before addressing the misbehaving students, should develop an optimistic attitude towards it. Make her clean the desk would be a relevant, realistic, and respectful logical consequence. Having her miss recess would be irrelevant. Making her clean all the desk in the classroom after session would be an unrealistic amount of work, and the uncleanness of the other desks would be unrelated to her mistake. Telling her like “You’re so rude, you don’t care about others but yourself!” would be a disrespectful attack on her character. 4. Provide structure and routine "Routines are the backbone of daily classroom life. They facilitate teaching and learning. Routines don’t just make your life easier, they save valuable classroom time. And what’s most important, efficient routines make it easier for students to learn and achieve more." Linda Shalaway (n.d). Providing a good structure and routine helps the children understand what the teacher and others are expecting from them. Providing structure and routing in the classroom maximizes students’ learning opportunities. Avoid classroom distractions and overall classroom atmosphere would be more pleasant.
