Most schools expect students to attend all of their classes. After all, what would be the point in enrolling students to get an education and then figuring they didn 't need to actually show up? Specific attendance policies can vary from one school to another or even from one class to another. According to Wake Tech attendance policy,” a student is required to be present 90% of his/her class schedule. An absence is defined as missing one-third or more of any regularly scheduled class meeting. In the event that a student 's absence in a class exceeds 10 percent and the absences are not justified to the satisfaction of the instructor, the instructor will submit Student Course Withdrawal Form to the Registration and Student Records Services Division. About tardiness the policy states that students are expected to be on time and leave on time. Tardiness and early departures will be considered part of students ' attendance violations. Since there is no appropriate time mentioned for tardiness in the current attendance policy, this should be incorporated in the policy. By incorporating tardiness time in the current policy, Students will have a clear idea on tardiness and are not left to guess. Not only it will allow the students them to plan accordingly, but will curb that gaps between students and faculty members. There should be a standard set to take attendance during class. By implementing some parameters for the time to take attendance, Students are more likely to abstain from tardiness, which will help in curbing the absenteeism and eventually improving the GPA for students.
