Journalists face increasing demands as society expects more than mere reporting. With a constant flow of news, fake information and manipulations, it is journalist’s job to select the important facts, check them, and present to the public in an interesting and appealing way. Another aspect of this already complicated process is to be as impartial and objective as possible so the audience can make its own conclusions based on the journalistic pieces. Although impartial journalism remains an ideal taught at schools, it is rather a theoretical principle than a practicality. Democratic societies have established a norm for individuals to receive honest and unbiased news; and professional and non-prejudiced journalism is a part of democratic state. Nevertheless, as much as democracy and freedom of speech emphasize on spreading information free from biases and opinions, the reality shows that the information people receive is very different. It is influenced by the journalists who have particular values, and even when they defend the universal norms, they side with their beliefs and promote those ideas to the public. The journalists select the heroes and the perspective of the stories; they also choose the things they want to focus on while omitting other aspects. Even when they stick to the goal of being impartial, there is no guarantee that they can achieve it because unconsciously, they may adjust the information based on their own set of values or

The opposing sides either fight for non-existent ideal or state that journalists are just like any other people who cannot control their thoughts. The truth is somewhere in the middle; the journalists cannot write in a robotic style, but they can do everything in their power to deliver a transparent and honest report of the situation (Riordan, 2014). They can even add their opinions as long as they do it openly and back them with facts so the audience does not mix the objective information with thoughts. A modern journalist cannot simply report everything because the flow of the news is too great. The audience expects much more, so the current professional standards have risen. Journalists should not seek absolute impartiality; they have to be able to distinguish between facts and fakes and provide the public with an open and transparent account of the topic, with various opinions and comments (Riordan, 2014). The media workers have to be as clear as possible whenever they report, so there are no confusions and deliberate manipulations. This way, it will be possible to give the audience a fair and honest account without lying or crooking
