Being married to somebody that a person loves is such a magnificent thing to admire. Having a person by your side that is your best friend really helps improve a person’s health. Having a significant other make their best friend happy, excited, feel supported, and other emotions that a person cannot describe or put into words. When a person knows their significant other really well, the individual can detect when they do not feel well or when they are having a long, emotional day. The significant other will be supportive and attempt to boost their best friend’s confidence and tell them that everything will turn out well and will improve with time. According to Anita Naik, “A study in the US has shown that married couples have a lower risk of …show more content…
It is both beneficial and meaningful when a person can remember what type of food their significant other likes from a restaurant or home-cooked meal that an individual enjoys and has it ready for the individual when they arrive home. An example of feelings is when the significant other might get agitated or frustrated when their significant other does not take out the trash or wash the dishes when they were asked to, but instead they were sitting on the couch watching television all day. An example of a personal like is if the individual remembers their significant other’s type of food they really enjoy or if one of them gets home before the other, one person may pick up the house for their significant other. It is the thought that makes this so meaningful and considerate of each other’s feelings. According to Kathleen Bogle, “Getting to know someone, via the dating script, was also a way for men and women to ascertain whether or not they had romantic feelings toward their dating partner” (432). Bogle implies that if the couple went on more dates and began a stronger relationship with each other, the couple’s sexual intimacy would most likely increase as well.
Some relationships last a lifetime and others are destroyed for various reasons. Marriage is in my view one of the most fragile relationships in today's society. Although it is scientifically proven that the family is the place where a person can develop physically and intellectually in a harmonious way, and can maintain his/her physical and mental health, today many families are falling apart, causing much suffering not only to the partners but also to the children in the family. The author of the article on the site www.apa.org/helpcenter, suggests a few steps to take in order to keep the romantic partnership in good working order, and I think this is also true for a happy marriage too. According to the site, communication is a key piece of healthy relationships. Another recommendation is to keep the marriage relationship interesting, planning interesting activities together, away from the daily routine. When you can no longer overcome the obstacles that arise in marriage, it is recommended to call for outside
The relationship between the husband and wife seems initially to be perfect. They both show each other expressions of love. There is understanding, harmony, financial security, and good communication between them. The couple spends a lot of time together, discussing future plans, and talking about the good moments they had in the past. However, behind all of this positive interaction between the two of them is something they are both not able
Relationships, to me, are very important to have in your life. Some people may think of one of the most common relationships, which would be romantic. However, when I think of relationships, I personally think of the people around you. Anyone in your life has a relationship with you. These relationships aren’t always good, but they aren’t always bad either. In my life, the relationships I have are shared with family, friends, teachers, etc. However, I am surrounded everyday with “adult” relationships, team relationships, and more.
Successful marriages can only be down when the couples build a solid foundation of a healthy and long lasting relationship. One can build a foundation by compromising of common set of core value, interests they both share in the long run. Without the foundation, marriages fail to reach the goals or expectations from their partner.
As people grow, a variety of relationships develop over time. Relationships with family, friends, and romantic partners are such examples of these diverse ties. Friendships in particular are affected by the following: the level of interaction involved, how communication between two friends is established, and contact, if they exist, between multiple circles of friends through one person. Some examples of these are friendship expectations, the stages of childhood friendship, and the stages of adult friendship.
Marriage is the union of love, friendship, patient, and comprehension. Although nowadays marriage has a lot of diversity, we should accept everyone and respect their choices, meaning that if they get marry or decide to live together to see if their relationship work.
Counseling skills has provided me with a valuable insight into the helping relationship and how it is both created and maintained in order to encourage growth and development in the client. The factors involved within the helping relationship include considering Roger’s core conditions, congruence, unconditional positive regard and empathy as the three main characteristics necessary in a helping relationship. In order to fully incorporate all three of Roger’s core conditions, I as the counselor must be self-aware, as a lack of self-awareness may inhibit truly listening and understanding the client; self-awareness can be enhanced through exercises such as Johari’s window. Counseling skills such as body language and active listening also plays a role within encouraging the client to open up and can help me as the counselor convey empathy.
My paper argues that you do not need food to use as a crutch to have a strong relationship. In my relationship with my ex Delta was an accident like Illa and Sajaan’s. Except our relationship was not based on food. We used food to catch up and talk about
The primacy of spousal support is also evident in research examining physical health outcomes. Reductions of depression in arthritis patients is related to positive support received from the spouse (Schiaffino & Revenson, 1995). Spousal support increases motivations to improve health for heart transplant patients (Rogers, 1987). The marital relationship prior to, and supportive interaction after the intervention, are also associated with the adjustment of cancer patients (Gritz et al., 1990). Social support in marriage can be operationalized in a number of ways, each of which may help elucidate its role in marital functioning. Support can be defined as the number or quality of support behaviors received in marital interactions (received support). This is typically assessed via observational coding systems that allow outside observers to code the occurrence of support behavior. Support can also be thought of as the perception of spouses as to the availability or adequacy of support provided by the partner (perceived
Inside the article “Why Marriage is Good for You”, Maggie Gallagher makes claims that marriage improves many facets of an individual’s life; including both mental and physical health, longevity, finances, and reduced chances of infidelity (Gallagher). The statements made throughout the article reference many statistics and studies conducted by various organizations and individuals, however, Gallagher falls victim to a number of common logical fallacies. While this weakens Gallagher’s argument in the article, it does not necessarily make it false.
Many people main life dream is to marry the person they have fall in love with someday. However, most of the time, this dream can be shattered. When the expectations they have for the relationship are not met, the marriage starting to fail and the end result can be devastating. When two people make a commitment to live with each order happily ever after, the worst thing that can happen is to deal with divorce. Therefore, there could be numerous factors or causes contributing to the end of a matrimonial union between two persons, such as lack of communication, infidelity and financial issues.
During our lifetime, many relationships are formed with family, friends, and significant others. These relationships are key to forming friends, work bonds and intimate connections with others. Family, friends and intimate relationships are necessary for everyday life, below I am going to discuss interpersonal relationships with each and challenges that may come.
“Relationships are what make up our world today, they shape the ways we see things and the way that we do things, relationships affect how we see the world today”. I believe supporting what your partner does, having a great sum of trust and showing your affections towards your partner is what will make a healthy relationship great.
The debate on whether to get married or stay single has been raging for a long while, with both sides of the coin having their own pros and cons regarding the matter. Many proponents of either marriage or single life have strong individual convictions, and it is difficult to reach a definitive, objective conclusion. Is the married individual happier than his/her single counterpart, or is getting married just a comfort seeking ritual that people believe they have to fulfill at some point in their lives? It is necessary to dissect this issue in the light of four factors: health and other medical factors, the economic and financial factors, mental and emotional wellbeing and lastly, the social factors. According to Webster’s dictionary, the definition of Married is “the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law”.
