The purpose of this assignment is to examine and understand the term Reflection in practise, and to show if it is a useful tool for the skilled practitioner.
There are many theories and theorists concerned with reflection and the secondary aim of this work is to briefly discuss some of them and to ascertain which of them would suit me.
To begin with what is reflection?
Reflection is the capacity to reflect on action so as to engage in a process of continuous learning (Schon1983)
Paying critical attention to the practical values and theories which inform everyday actions, by examining practice reflectively and reflexively. This leads to developmental insight Bolton (2010),
When reviewing your experience from practise it can be described, analysed, evaluated and used to make informed decisions and influence future practise.

In conclusion.
The opinions surrounding the theories are as numerous as the theories themselves.
Whether used as a stand-alone model or as an eclectic mix of the various models, Reflection has been shown to be a highly useful tool for any practitioner and when used in a consistent and proactive manner can serve to benefit the practitioner and the patient.
The reflective model of learning should be organic and not static as that way the practitioner will develop better clinical skills and will then have a better understanding of why they do what they do and why it works.
All the theories appear to have a base in Kolb’s model of experiential learning with each theorist adapting and expanding to form their own models
Which one works the best is something for the individual person to decide. The Gibbs(1988) model, Appears to work well as it allows the user
