Consider rap music from back then as a voice Rap music taken the music industry by a storm and has made a major impact on the hip hop culture. It is a music genre that is heard many places that one could be for example; the car, your neighborhood and even some retail stores. Many people confuse rap and hip hop to be the same thing. Not to be confused there really isn’t that much that is different from each other. Rap is more focused on the lyrical form telling their perspective on the world. Meanwhile Hip hop is considered the same thing, but it mainly focuses more on the beat and hip hop dancing. So basically hip hop is the culture and rap music is the movement. “Rap was born as a form of necessary speech. It provided young people, many of whom were from difficult and impoverished backgrounds with a voice and a means of vivid expression” (Gates, Henry). Describing exactly what rap music is depends on the person. To me it is a form of storytelling and a form of poetry in which artists would chant over rhythm their struggles and basically their perspective of this world or society. The lyrics are something that contain deep meaning that is made to point out a problem, it’s something that is not made just to sound good and catchy but to tell a story. Exposure to images of smoking in movies influences a child’s risk for picking up the habit” (Parker-Pope,Tara). You know, kids growing up need a person they look up to, but parents don’t want it to be rappers who their children look up to. Not because of how they dress but what these artists display on their lyrics and their videos. I personally believe that the songs don’t particularily push children to the point where they have to mimic exactly what the artist is doing. If their parents raised them right, then the children would know it’s not the best idea to be like a rapper. You may say that “kids don’t know better” but in reality they know the difference between something that is bad and good, it’s
