In other words, Performance management is an approach to measure and judge the performance of employees in any organization. performance management concept is used to measure both individual and group performance. The importance of performance management for any business is that it will help in monitoring the employees and also helps in improving their efficiency at work. It fills the gap between incapability of employees at work place and expected outcome from those employees. An organization with effective performance management will gain more employee satisfaction and growth. (Shafritz,299). Performance management includes activities that ensure that goals are consistently being met in an effective and efficient manner. Performance management focuses on the performance of an organization, a department, employee, or even the processes to build a product or service, as well as many other areas. (Shafritz, 299). A performance management system sets out to establish organizational goals and objectives to ensure that a business is successful and employees perform to their highest possible standard. The system also identifies any problems with a public service and monitors progression (Shafritz, 298). Performance management helps government use technology and data to openly set goals, hold participants accountable, connect to stakeholders, track progress, and achieve results. Performance management process requires more interaction between the supervisor and supervisee and encourages the professional development of the employee to meet the organization’s changing needs. While this more dynamic evaluation process is time-consuming, the increased productivity levels resulting from performance management have proven to be valuable to many organizations.
