It is said that no one should be judged by how much money they have, but by how ad what they decide to use money for, and possibly to uplift humanity. Many people believe that Oprah Winfrey is a prime example of this statement to be true and proven throughout her life. Oprah Winfrey was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi although she was born into a life of poverty; she has spent her life giving back to America in several ways including the use of her wealth and her talents. A Texas cattlemen sued her in early 1998 for false defamation of perishable food and business disparagement, claiming that Oprah’s statement sent cattle prices plummeting, ultimately costing beef producers twelve million (Mcspotlight 1996). The Texas cattlemen over popularized Oprah’s remark simply because of her status and popularity in American social media. The reason for why the price of beef began decreasing is because of the medias warning to the public of mad cow disease that inevitably caused everyone to stop purchasing beef for a specific amount of time. Oprah has a very loyal following that stands behind her in any sort or news controversy or debate especially when she helping the less unfortunate for the greater good. Moreover, the power of Oprah’s influence was also renowned during the 2008 presidential election, when she endorsed President Barack Obama. It was anticipated that her endorsement was accountable for somewhere between 423,123 and 1,596,995 votes that were in favor for Obama in the Democratic primary alone (Esten 2013). Oprah has had an unbelievable influence on so many lives and Oprah has greatly swayed public opinion in several individuals’ lives. She has given back in various ways, including her form of therapy known as “Oprahfication”, her power of opinion known as “The Oprah Effect.” Oprah’s kind acts of her giving to many charities and causes have positively inspired all women of color and other ethnicities. Oprah’s charitable acts in life consist of giving back to communities, building schools and homes for kids in Africa, creating opportunities for people, and ultimately engaging people to stand up for what they believe in. Ultimately Oprah is consistently giving and helping others and inspiring people all around the world to do the same, Oprah Winfrey is definitely the world’s most prominent woman in today’s modern
