Within the last quarter-century there has been an alarming surge in migration numbers. The world is facing possibly, its biggest migration crisis since World War II. The word, migrant is used to describe a person or groups of people moving from one country or region to another country or region in the search of something.
The most common definition for migrant is a person traveling in search for seasonal work. This is the definition most people cling to when the term was first coined. Most native English speakers get the definitions of the words, “immigration”, “emigration” and “migration” mixed up. With such a high value we place on educational attainment and the ideal that public education opens the door to a lot of opportunities, immigrants are coming to the United States to access the “American Dream”. According to the Internationals Network for Public Schools, “The level of education achieved is one of the leading predictors of well-being in modern Ameri­can society. According to…, “Black immigrants in the U.S. earn 30% more than U.S. born blacks. Nina Terrero states, “Children of Latino immigrants begin life with a substantial advantage over the children of U.S.-born Hispanics, faring better across areas such as education, health and economics, says a new study released today by the Foundation for Child Development.” Looking at migration and all of the positives and negatives, I feel as though this is something that should be less restricted as well as people should be less hesitant to accept immigrants into the United States. Migration is not a bad thing, and research shows that the immigrants in the United States are adding to the economy and making efforts and achievements that are worlds ahead. I feel as though one could argue that immigrants have more will to succeed seeing as their families may have risked their lives to get to the United States in an attempt to attain the opportunities U.S. soil alone
