Physical therapy is the most exciting healthcare profession. Being able to wake up every morning to help other people who have problems with their body is amazing. From joints to muscles, spinal cord, heart disease, lower back pain, head injuries, arthritis, fractures, and many other disabling conditions a physical therapist will be by your side one hundred percent. The job of a physical therapist is to evaluate your problem or difficulties. Once the evaluation is completed the therapist provides the patient an assessment test. This test usually checks for muscle strength, joint motion, flexibility, balance, and coordination. They also check for any neurological problems and analyze your movement and range of motion. Next, the physical therapist
Physical therapists can either specialize in specific areas, like paralysis or orthopedics, or they can treat a broad range of needs. Physical therapy is divided into three basic categories: acute care, neuro-rehab, and outpatient physical therapy. I am particularly interested in acute care, which involves treating patients in the hospital setting. Acute care involves treating patients following surgery, restoring patients' physical activity following an accident or illness, and helping patients to overcome disabilities. Teaching home exercises, preparing rehab programs, and explaining how to use assistive devices are the acute care therapist's main jobs. On the other hand, neuro-rehab physical therapists deal with patients who have long-term injuries, such as spinal cord injuries. Finally, outpatient physical therapists are usually self-employed and generally treat patients in the home. ("Information" 7) All three types of physical therapists perform the same general tasks. The goal of physical therapy is to help patien...
The article found for this project proves an extensive amount of research in the filed of physical therapy. It identifies the thought process of physical therapists, the amount of preparation put into their work and their performance. It also explains the different areas if illness physical therapy can help treat. PT is not just for the common ankle break, it can be used to help diagnose neurological conditions. It gives facts as to why this practice is becoming more and more complex. The website found for this project shows people across the United States that are benefitting from physical therapy. Although these sources are factual, the primary research will provide more of a hands on learning experience.
A physical therapist will help an injured or sick person feel better and get their normal body functions back to normal again. A physical therapist will help strengthen the injured part of the patient so that a recurring injury is not likely to happen. They will also help a patient recover after a surgery, stroke, heart attack, or rehabilitate somebody that has had a life threatening event happen. The work environment for a physical therapist is usually in a hospital, although, they can provide home health care services or work in their own building. It is uncommon for a physical therapist to have a office in a physician's office. As of 2015, more than 200 programs to become a physical therapist were offered to obtain a required Doctor
When my grandmother woke up not able to move one morning, she was rushed to the hospital and received help from the doctor. He explained why this happened and what to do next. The doctor introduced us to a physical therapist that would help my grandmother. She met with her frequently and my grandmother’s mobility improved significantly. Physical therapists help patients of all sorts with their physical disabilities and pain. I chose to research this career because I want to help other people in need and continue spreading the assistance.
While there were many differences between each setting, there were also several commonalities. In all settings, the physical therapists provided care that was professional and skilled. They worked collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide the best care possible for each of their patients. They strived to establish rapport and trust with each patient. Each of the settings I observed provided me with insights to the field of physical therapy and convinced me that this career is the right choice for

During my undergraduate career, I have been heavily exposed to the field of physical medicine. I have worked as a PT technician for almost a year in an outpatient clinic, and have actively sought out other observation in other physical therapy settings. I have had the chance to observe PTs in acute care at the local hospital and a pediatric therapy center. Through these observation opportunities, I have a gained a great understanding of the role the physical therapist has within society as well as the benefits of participating in physical therapy. Physical therapists are allied health professionals who collaborate with other health care providers to assess, develop and organize a treatment plan to ultimately improve the quality of life for their patients. It is the duty of the physical therapists to create and participate in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, alleviate pain, increase strength, and enhance or remedy incapacitating conditions resulting from injury or disease. It is crucial that physical therapists have the ability to properly educate individuals on their role and purpose in the patients’ continuum of care. PTs must also inform people about the great benefits of participating in physical therapy. A few benefits of physical therapy include: reducing or eliminating pain, recovering from an injury, improving mobility, avoiding surgery, and managing other health conditions. As a PT technician, I have had the opportunity to understand the purpose and value behind therapeutic modalities, prescribed exercises and manual therapy techniques. Consequently, I have had explain my knowledge of the function and benefits of certain therapy practices to patients. My experiences in different physical therapy settings have given me a strong comprehension of a physical therapists role in
It is not secret that marketing plays one of the key roles of a successful business. As Phillip Kotler said: “Marketing is the science and art of exploring, creating, and delivering value to satisfy the needs of a target market at a profit. Marketing identifies unfulfilled needs and desires. It defines, measures and quantifies the size of the identified market and the profit potential”. Simply stated, marketing is everything you do to place your product or service in the hands of a potential customer.
Physical therapists play an integral role in health care. The vision statement for the physical therapy career is: “Transforming society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience”. 1 Through my prior volunteer and work experiences, I discovered that physical therapy was the perfect career choice and vision for my future. As a current student and future physical therapist, I will play an important role for society and within the health care profession. The vision statement will serve as my reminder to always strive for more knowledge and feedback as a student, uphold pertinent values that will improve the practice of physical therapy, and to always provide quality care to all patients.
In general, there are numerous definitions of marketing as it has various features to involve, and the one below has concluded main factors of it:
As shown in Figure 1 there are many different definitions for Marketing. The key is that they all share a common theme, marketing is: “Meeting the needs and wants and providing benefits for customers.”
the business activity of presenting products or services to potential customers in such a way as to make them eager to buy. Marketing includes such matters as the pricing and packaging of the product and the creation of demand by advertising and sales campaigns.4
Physical therapists are health care professionals that provide therapeutic services to their patients who have temporary or chronic physical conditions that were caused from injury or disease. Physical therapist also provided therapeutic services to patients after they have gone through surgery to help them gain back mobility and manage their pain. They can also work in preventive care by promoting healthy life styles and instructing individual patients or groups on preventing injury by using exercises that stretch and strengthen muscles. To help their patients try to recover they use massage techniques, wellness plans, and different types of equipment. When a physical therapist sees a patient for the very first time they must do an examination, evaluation, diagnosis, and then put together a physical intervention to start the rehabilitation process. They also work as a team with other health care professionals to help with their patients needs. Physical therapist can really make a difference in their patient’s lives by not only providing therapeutic services but also encouraging and motivating them so they can get better. The main goals of physical therapist are to help their patients retain or gain back lost physical mobility, eliminate or reduce pain, increase productivity and help promote a healthy life style so patients can have a better quality of life and become more independent.
Another definition of marketing is the "selling of products or services: the business activity of presenting products or services in such a way as to make them desirable" (MSN Encarta). However, according to (Kotler & Keller, 2006) the formal definition of "marketing is an organizational function and a set of processes for creating, communication, and delivering value to customers and for managing customer relationships in ways that benefit the organization and its shareholders"(Kotler & Keller, p.4). According to these definitions, marketing needs to cover customers' necessities and at the same time sell products to increase future revenues. However, marketing is more extensive than just selling a product. Moreover, marketing activities are all activities associated with identifying the particular wants and needs of a target market of customers, and then going about satisfying those customers better than the competitors. This involves doing market research on customers, analyzing their needs, and then making strategic decisions about product design, pricing, promotion and distribution.
