Introduction
At some point in everyone’s life they will have the chance to be a leader and a follower. How one acts in those roles can greatly influence the outcome of the situation they are in. Being able to have multiple skills of both a leader and a follower can allow for better outcomes in most situations. To be a positive leader one needs to be able to change leadership styles depending on what the situation calls for; this can change during the course of one interaction alone.

This would be appropriate as it is a shared decision-making but also involves maintaining a good working relationship (Fisher, 2009). If there is something I strongly believe I need for my patient I will try to stand up for the patient and be their advocate with the physician, as I understand that I will still need the physician involved in certain situations. I feel this style will work best as it encourages the nursing students to develop their skills and their leadership skills as well. While I would still be providing the direction for patient care and decision-making I would encourage their input and discussions about why something might be in the best interest of the patient. This will encourage their own critical thinking and allow them the chance to work on understanding how to best care for their patients in the future. While I would still have final say this style would be helpful to allow the nursing students to grow, as compared to the directive leadership
