They are listening, speaking, reading, and writing. These skills are learned through selected materials based on their developmental level. However, in teaching and learning process, a teacher must develop the four language skills in an integrative way. Qualified teachers, good environments, facilities, and media also support the success of language learning. Since pronunciation is related to phonology, the writer suggests that phonology is a very crucial matter in learning English on the “next phase”. Yet, we have to consider things that lower the pronunciation of English learner. For example, learners think that they don’t have to pronounce a word correctly as long as they …show more content…
One such case is the sound [eɪ] as in take, which is often pronounced [tæk] in the ESL variety common in Taiwan. If students are told to simply make the Mandarin [eɪ] when pronouncing take, they keep trying to “anglicize” [eɪ] to the version they’re more familiar with, in the process producing the wrong sound, either [ɛ] or [æ]. Many students seem to find it difficult to suddenly switch to a “Chinese” sound in the middle of an English word, even though the results are excellent when they manage to do it. They tend to find it [strɛndʒ] and laugh. This is an example of the effects of reinforced faulty models. It shows that students in fact learn some of their lessons extremely well and hold on to them tenaciously–it’s just unfortunate it is sometimes a wrong sound that is taught so successfully. Such errors can however be fixed, with effort, and the most motivated learners do

The proper use of pronunciation is what helps a message be understood easily by other fluent English speakers. Often times, an ELL student can struggle with forming a word correctly and may cause a word to be pronounced as a different, but similarly sounding word. One example of how the pronunciation of a word can cause a message to be unclear a Spanish speaker pronouncing “kitchen” as “chicken”. These two words are very close in sound, but each word has a completely different meaning. A mother that asks a child to “please clean the kitchen” greatly differs from the mispronounced word that has changed the sentence to “please clean the chicken”. There are many speech therapy courses that are offered in schools that will improve a child’s ability to speak productively. In the oral language speech by ELL student Tania, the Spanish student faces challenges while pronouncing “stories about magic, vampires “. These impediments can be worked on and improved over time. The grading scale of pronunciation on a rubric can range from insufficient in the result of being virtually unintelligent; to excellent, being that it pleasantly uses intonation and pronunciation as accurately as a native speaker

Being literate sparks from the importance of immersing a child within a literate classroom. Goodwin (2011) states that ‘a literate classroom will be full of purposeful interaction between children and adults, where genuine conservations spark ideas and allow learners to work on understanding’ (p2). When it comes to the topic of studying foreign languages, education should begin from kindergarten age, most of us will readily agree that it can help one become more open minded and leads to an appreciation of cultural diversity. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of is it an investment that wouldn’t pay off? Whereas some are convinced that it can improve our employability. For example, between two candidates with the exact same skill set and experience, the person who is bilingual is arguably much more likely to get the job. Others maintain that it can take up too much time and money. I agree that studying a foreign language should begin from a kindergarten age because it’s rewarding in the long run. They gain the most at this age because there are like sponges. There are many rewarding outcomes but here are just a few: Traveling becomes much easier, you meet people from all around the world, you become more open minded and most importantly, you have a greater amount of job opportunities.

By assuming that students will learn proper communication skills without guidance is a big mistake. Individuals should begin learning basic communication skills at birth and continue learning throughout their educational experience. There are, of course, many types of communication. We use verbal communication, non-verbal communication, written communication and many different forms of. Additionally, communication plays an important role in the process of conveying knowledge as well. Communication is instrumental in education since it helps the instructor and the students to work together with each other. Communication is the most important component of any society. In order, to communicate properly we need correct pronunciation, because pronunciation affects how we understand the meaning of the words. If the sound of a word is different it could lead the listener to believe that the word has a different meaning, and if this happens, it is very obvious that it is a form of improper communication. This may lead to a lot of misinterpretations. To avoid these kinds of problems we need to teach accurate pronunciation. English, in schools, is a very important subject for teaching proper...
A language with rather humble roots, one that has been twisted and bent, one that has taken and borrowed from other languages, and one that has been the subject of much debate as to the correctness of certain usages, today English is the language that the world uses to communicate. The world uses English for a variety of reasons from commerce and trade, to political decisions, to technology and science, and beyond. The entire world uses English to get business done. Thus it truly has become the lingua franca for the world.
English is an international language of communication (Nunan, 2003). So that English is a necessary basic skill for human. For instance, we meet lots of people who came from different countries in our daily life. Since our mother language is different, we can use English to be a lingua franca to communicate with them and try to understand their culture easily.
In most institutions of learning today, the classes are made up of students from different ethnic backgrounds. These have different traditions and also speak different languages. In a typical classroom, the majority of the students will speak the same language. The teacher must then employ strategies which will accommodate all the students in the class. This will ensure that every learner gets the best quality of education. This will enable them to be better prepared for career and expressing themselves. In this paper, strategies to assist learners of the English language in their literal development for third grade learners. In the paper, three strategies that can be used by the teacher will be discussed. New strategies and research that will help the English language learners to gain in depth mastery of the language will also be discussed. Due to the widespread learning of the English language in most schools, addressing issues of the language learners is of vital importance. Teachers should have the understanding that cultures are what give someone identity and therefore no student should leave their culture for another. Instead, there should be the blending of different cultures so that students can appreciate and learn from each other.
Education should be a part of everyone's life. A good education offers something for everyone, whether it be on the simple level or a more complex one. Education should provide provide an opportunity for students to develop a strong sense of creativity, a high self esteem, and a life long respect for learning. Education should help students establish a strong sense of confidence in themselves. A teacher will be one factor that helps a student learn and progress along their way through life. Teachers combine their own ideas with other people's to be able to give a good education to their students.
Even though there are advantages as well as disadvantages, the need for international language for communication, politics, economics and security is necessary and English is the best “language candidate” for that function. English is a language spread all over the world and it is used by millions and millions of speakers. According to my opinion, people should use English as a tool to communicate with all cultures but every country must keep their culture and language is a great part of it. In conclusion, language defines identity of a country and everyone should keep their language and explore others.
