Dr. Joplin,
Excellent question, although I wished we had the opportunity to meet face to face to talk about these questions. I hope you are feeling well now.
1) What worked well for you in the School of Business (School overall, not just your major)?
The faculty in School of Business has been phenomenal. The faculty has years of experiences combined and they always make themselves available for students. Getting some one on one with the instructor was important to me. GBA is, in my opinion, one of the important necessity for me. GBA taught what I really need to know and gave me confidence to put my best foot forward.
2) What could be improved in the School of Business?
One thing I felt that could be improved is better

I have had couple interviews for internship but did not get the job because of lack of experience. I was told that my education background was superb but need job related experience. It would be nice, if the department could collaborate with an agency who specialize in finding employment for students and get them job-related experience they need. SIUe has awesome networks, and it would be nice if they could do something that would guarantee students who want a position in an internship or a long-term job, and of course with student 's dedication. Right now, I do not have an IT job and I am graduating and it is very likely I will have to accept an entry level position which pay less and also mean I will have to work 2 jobs until I get enough experience to move up the ladder. This is where I wish this department would provide resource for.
It would be nice if the department would have better tutoring system, or better access to tutoring. I recall one time when I was struggling with Finance 300 or 320, I needed an tutor but due to schedule conflict, I could not get an tutor for this class. There was several time when I need tutor for some of my classes but there was none, the only help I could get was one on one with my instructor. This really limits effective learning for me and I imagine it would be for some other students as
My current employer, Hughes Network Systems, will partially sponsor my MBA. In the short term returning to them as part of the Strategic and Solutions Management team is an attractive option. In the longer term, I would like to work as the CEO of my own high-tech telecom company, using my vision and experience together with my Smith MBA, to develop cutting-edge strategies and products to empower companies to better utilize technology for establishing beneficial customer relationships. young boy, my father has often told me business stories at dinner time. As a result, I gradually grew a keen interest in this field and wanted to realize my dream of being a business man one day. In my first year in high school, I decided to start my first business, and it did not end very well. My home is near the decoration and fashion accessories selling area in Hanoi. Realizing this geographic advantage as a potential business opportunity, I opened a small and simple network with two of my friends
My Great Expectations Everything that I have experienced so far in Flagstaff has been great. In the next four years there are many new thing that I will experience here that I never have by living in phoenix. Also I would like to leave here with a lot more knowledge about different things like business and the community of this city. In the outstanding city of Flagstaff I came with a lot of expectation, will experience many knew things in my college years, and also have two main goals before
Through my work in environmental compliance with petroleum retailers, I developed a strong interest in pursuing innovative solutions to environmental problems. My professional experience in environmental and health hazard mitigation at Environmental Compliance Services, Inc. was rewarding; however, I concluded that a career in the business-environment nexus aligned more closely to my future goals. With my skill set and interests, I aim to improve the processes and cultures of corporations and governments
January 1991, I joined Domestic Finance Team of HMC. My specific assignment was to plan monthly and annual financial schedules for HMC's domestic funding needs. my enjoyment of Business Studies at AS level. For me, Business Studies has proven to be an extremely interesting subject, one that offers many opportunities. I would like to study this course to broaden my knowledge about all aspects of running, managing and marketing a successful business. I believe that the business profession requires individuals with good interpersonal skills, who are committed and quick thinking, all of which are attributes that I have identified within myself. Whilst at university
The world of business has always enamored me: The allure of working and reaping the rewards has stirred in me a love for business. This has influenced me to apply to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where I believe I can be a great asset to the college while in turn it prepares me to face the challenges and opportunities that both the domestic and international economies present. I invest a significant amount of time reading articles from a variety of sources about topics such
and making money for myself. My first entrepreneurial venture was at the age of ten. A friend and I sold toffees to our neighbours for ten cents each. For a very long time, I have been determined to seek an education and career in the field of business. I have decided to obtain my undergraduate degree from the Schulich School of Business as it will provide me with the best opportunities for my future. I have always had a keen interest in business. the best and brightest minds to form its incoming class. However, it is not the skills and experiences of the incoming class that will ultimately determine the greatness of the program. The strength of the program will be established by how each member chooses to use their strengths. next stride. Since studying Business as part of my GCSE at secondary school, I gained an interest within the Business Law sector and so I wish to have a Business Law orientated degree. I had the chance to comprehend the path in which a few organisations work at higher comprehension levels when studying at College. My advantage and satisfaction in the Business course has strengthened my enthusiasm for seeking after a career in the field of Business Law. I trust that a business law degree has further interested
My ambition to study business education and to pursue a business career began from a young age. When I was in 8th grade, I had attended a marketing seminar with my father. I had witnessed many people give speeches and talk about entrepreneurship and other things. Since then, I wondered how it would be like to be in their shoes dreamt of one day to be an entrepreneur or work in an administrative position. Since then, I set a goal to study business during higher education. My interest in business
I have always been enamored by business: The allure of working hard and reaping the rewards of it has stirred within me a passion of which I have never tired. This fervor has influenced me to apply to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where I believe I can be a valuable asset to the college while it in turn prepares me to face the challenges and opportunities that both the domestic and international economies present. Though my high school classes have given me a solid foundation
- Colin Powell One of the memories of my childhood I deeply cherish is that of my first day in school. I distinctly remember tears in my eyes since I was in a new environment. We were made to draw, we were reciting rhymes and by the end of the day I began to love my school. I was fortunate to have good early education and as I grew math challenged me and gave me joy. Learning itself became my passion. The employability ration and statistics for business students who are under 25 years of age have
something in life you have to work for it. My Parents taught me that nothing in life comes free. My family has not always been in the best financial standing if we wanted a toy or a certain brand of clothes we had to work for it. This is what I believe will help me get through college and through life. A great work ethic is not something everyone has in today's society. I believe that this is something I have the privilege to possess and it is all in thanks to my parents. However, I do not think that
My interest in business all started when I was in Grade 8. Before, I always wanted to become a doctor but in grade 8, my teacher introduced me to a show called "Dragons Den." This show is about 5 business investors who invest their own money in new and innovative entrepreneurial ideas. When I first watched the show, I loved it because it was entertaining to watch the investors fight over certain ideas. I then started to become a bit more interested in business and I decided to take Grade 10 Introduction
