Humans have been on this planet for over 6 million years, so we should understand the importance of humanity. According to Webster 's dictionary the definition of humanity, says that it is a human being or being humane. As humans, we want to give a simple and quick definition: conscience and consciousness. The realization that we are alive and that we have something more to offer in life than just our fight for survival. But humanity can also be our reluctance to become one with more animalistic side. When we compare ourselves to animals there are moments that animals show the same type of humanity that we have. But some of those things might not be signs of humanity at all. There is no way of us knowing an animal really knowing it 's alive and has a purpose. Most animals live their life surviving and nothing else. But humans are much different and we do more than just survive, we show intense emotions, we create from anything and everything and we think complexly. We show every emotion passionately comparably in the way Judith gave up being vegetarian after one bite of meat. In some cases we care too much about something and forget about ourselves completely, then ignore all the opposition people give to acting that way. Judith had spent her entire life being a vegetarian and refused to eat anything eat except fish. When she got married her husband made it a debate to prove that “Fish are animals” (Herzog 242). After finally giving in her final decision was “either quit eating fish, or stop thinking of herself as a vegetarian” (Herzog 242). After going on a hunting trip her husband decided to feed her “the grouse... With wild rice and raspberry sauce” (Herzog 242). So after that first bite, just like that it was all over and she had lost in her emotions. Honestly, if she just listened to what she really wanted, she could have just kept being a vegetarian who eats fish. But she 's only human showing off her human
