When I was in the third grade my parents made the decision to begin homeschooling me due to medical reasons. My family and even some of my closest friends saw this as a mistake. They thought that because I was going to be homeschooled I wouldn 't be the same as every other kid; that I would be different. When people think “homeschooled” they think being at home and staying there. Being away from other people your own age. They think about being socially awkward and being awkward in general. They think that you won’t learn as well and because of that you won’t be prepared for a higher education and life and when you start looking at colleges they wont take you seriously because you’re homeschooled. It was a very hard adjustment time for myself and my family. When you wake up at home and you have the option to sit around in your pajamas all day and watch TV or play video games and you find, regardless of your age, it is very hard to not to take the easy route and not motivate yourself to do work. And throughout the years I found myself starting to slip into the easy route of homeschooling. But as time went on I realized that school would be the key to the rest of my life. In some ways it is like being in college. I took a myriad of classes there and I would receive homework just like normal school, it would then be up to me to set my schedule, get my get my homework done, and turn it in on time. I am already conditioned to the college schedule of going to a class, receiving homework and then getting it done and turning it in. It was a struggle at times; especially when I first started. I thought I would go to my classes and then I could do my own thing until the following tutorial day. I started to learn that this was not a good way to be doing school. I realized what I am doing with my time now would effect my entire life. So got a routine down and started managing my time between work and play; the time management skills I have learnt while thorough out my time in high school are still ones I uses to this day.
