Education is very important for a child’s development and the parents are reassured to start schooling their children since little. Home-schooling, also known as home education is the education of children at home, as opposed to in the formal settings of a public or private school. It is usually conducted by a parent or tutor. The concept is not new as it began in the 1970s. Ever since then it has been in practice in the United States of America, United Kingdom and many parts of Europe. However the public school is stills the choices for many parents especially working or career-oriented parents. The parents can choose which one is better for their children education since there are no restrictions regarding their choices. There are three …show more content…

Financial cost is another issue that need to pay attention either home-school or public school. In a research shown that home-school is cheaper than any other education, most parents who home-school spend less than $600 per year compared to the $10,000 average spent per pupil by public school systems (Parker, 2012). According to Tobias (2015) public school requires both parents working rather than one because of they need to buy uniforms, field trip, school fees and any other expenses involves. However Bringer (2015) said home-schooling can be a pressure on the family’s finances since one parent is not working in order to stay at home and tutoring the children. Hence the parents must also buy and/or rent the books needed to teach their children. For example family that chose home-schooling, one of the parents need to have a secure job in order to maintain their financial stable. The father or the mother needs to struggle and sacrifice their time in working to cover the living expenses and so on. While the other one need to spend his or her time to teach their children according to the plan schedule. Anyhow, a stable financial would not be a problem to the parents if they choose either home-school or public school for their children as long as they plan their financial prudently and they know their short term and long term …show more content…

A child learning progress depends on the teaching method use by the home-school parents or the public school method and how the child will adapt with the syllabus and curriculum. Different child may need different approaches and teaching techniques so that they will not feel left behind in the learning process. Tobias (2015) stated that home-school is easier; it could be anywhere and not rigid and static. It may be in science museum, zoo, and exhibition and so on. Moreover a child’s level learning depends on the parents or the tutors’ observation, and they can learn without any pressure to ensure they must pass every grade in fixed time. Chen,G. (2008) said parent who home-school commonly set the child’s curriculum preferences by themselves and what they want their child to focus on. It is also could be either the passion of the parents or the child choices. On the other hand, public school not totally focus on academic only, it is also give students choices of curriculum while the home-schooling does not bid same opportunities in the curriculum such as arts, athletics and any other additional activities that students get in public school (Parker, 2013). For example some public school make it compulsory for the students to at least participate in a club, association or sports and the students are encouraged to involves more than one.
