I just finished a health course and I am confident that I will have no problem explaining nutrition, healthy eating habits, and exercise to you. Nutrition, healthy eating habits, and exercise are crucial components of not only your physical health, but mental and social as well. In this essay, I will go over all three.
What is nutrition? “Nutrition is the science/study of ways in which the body uses food. It is also the study of how and why we make food choices” (Lesson 18). There are six classes of nutrients: carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and water. In order to maintain proper nutrition, a balanced diet of all six nutrients must be conceived. What is the proper amount of proper nutrition? Proper nutrition involves getting your body the correct doses of nutrients it needs and keeping out things that do it harm. Carbohydrates can be simple (donuts, chocolate, french fries, and gummy bears) or complex (bread, pasta, broccoli, oatmeal, and bananas). Fats are the main form in which energy is stored in the body. Healthy eating habits include eating 3 meals, snacking, and drinking 8 glasses of water. What do unhealthy eating habits look like? Unhealthy eating habits look like: fasting, starvation, extreme weight loss/thinness, constant dieting, hiding food/food wrappers, eating to the point of discomfort or pain, lack of control once one begins to eat, disgust or self-hatred about eating behaviors, purging, obsession with scales/weight, and laxative use.What should you do if you suspect unhealthy eating habits?
