Gender equality has been an on going quandary for women because of male potency, misogyny, and patriarchal conceptions, which are ideas that are harmful and feared by women throughout society. Women are constantly demeaned by men with their inappropriate slurs towards women, their aggressive attitudes and forceful actions, and the expectations and feminine qualities men assume women should abide by. Gender inequality is not natural, but constructed by people in society, which discriminate against women. At a young age, we are assigned a gender role that we are forced to fulfill with proper behaviors, whether that be a female or male. For example, “Go on, throw it back and bust it open like you 'posed to, Girl I got that dope dick, now come here let me dope you”. In this profane lyric, Lil Wayne expects the women to have sex with him solely on the idea that he is a man and she is a women. No women is “supposed” to have sex with a man, that requires consent from the women, not by force. Another example in the song, “I don 't discriminate, no not at all Kit-Kat a midget, if that ass soft, I 'll break her off, I exchange V-cards with the retards”. Provocative and insulting comments about women are apparent in this particular lyric. Lil Wayne is implying that it doesn’t matter what the women looks like, as long as she has a nice body, he will want to have sex with them. He also calls women “retards”, which is politically incorrect and a demeaning statement not only towards women, but to most of society. Above all, the media disguises these misogyny ideas in music, television, games, etc, which is damaging and destructive to women’s status in society. A women’s role in society is problematic; women are still fighting for equal rights and fair treatment. It’s hard to escape this male dominated world because society helped construct this obscene idea that men are more important than women.
