What is family? Family is a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household. The most important person of the family of the Abdi family is mom. In this family the mom is very soft hearted, her name is Safia, and even when she is frustrated and mad, she takes her time to calm down before dealing with anything. She 's protective of her kids. After going to school so many years, she has her masters in social work, and works with families daily to better their life. Also, she is dedicated, kind, sensible, and knowledgeable. The Dad in this family is the less restrictive parent. He 's always joking around with the family to make the day brighter, and he 's good at it. These parents will have more time together since they both will be retire by then, and also travel around the world. In addition, they will have more gran kids to play with and spend time taking care of them. Also, this will give the parents the opportunity to re-examine their commitment to and feelings for each other. By the time he comes home he might be heated and arguments and conflicts are easy to get started. According to an article, I was reading reported “The fathers in this study believed in the priority of spending time with their children but, at the same time, lamented that making time for family was costly, fixed in amount, and largely beyond their control to change due to the demands of their paid work.” (Daly,1996). Meaning in order to provide for their family they have to work along hours like the dad in Hasan family. Also, they have teenagers that can get into a lots of trouble by experimenting the world around them, and it is not always easy to understand them. Another one is, the mother is the only person who does household chores. It is not Evenly divided among the household, chores like sweeping, taking out the trash, vacuuming, washing the dog, and raking the yard can prevent future conflict. One of the benefits that comes with this family is the family size is small, so they eat dinners together, and they plan family activities together. For instance, they play board games, or have weekend getaways.
