I have never had any huge problems with school. In fact, I would even go so far as to say that I have enjoyed school for the majority of my life that I have spent attending it. I cannot help but believe that my upbringing has played a crucial role in shaping my attitude and expectations of schooling. Family and teacher support formed my positive attitude toward schooling, and accommodations such school of choice formed my higher hopes and expectations of schooling. I was born and raised in Grand Junction, Colorado. My parents instilled in me the importance of listening to and showing respect for authority figures. As I begin my third year of my undergraduate schooling, I can hardly believe that my time as a student is this close to being over. Of course, teachers never cease being students. Learning is a lifelong process, and more so for professional educators. There are always ways that I can improve my knowledge, teaching, learning, and thinking. My educational experiences here at CU Boulder have opened my mind to so much. Not only am I learning a plethora of information from my professors, but from all interactions with people. Support and options in schooling have been fundamental in my educational experiences. Not all students have many options or are treated fairly. Fortunately for me, these have been features in why I see my educational experiences all as positive experiences.
