Competition Maximizer Achiever Harmony Learner After reading the results of my StrengthsFinder Survey, I began to realize more about myself that I had not known. The reasoning for my actions became more prevalent, especially after realizing my most dominant talent is competition. Competition drives me. In my workplace, I strive the be the best nurse not only in my office, but in the entire clinic corporation. At home, I endeavor to become the best mother and wife I can possibly be. Many employees feel their talents are not utilized in the position they are working. The employer may not even realize what talents their employee holds, but by taking the StrengthsFinder Survey, the strengths possessed are clearly identified. When an employee’s dominant talents are identified, the employer can utilize his or her talents to provide a position where possessing these strengths are needed. “Whenever you use your greatest talents, there is a psychological reward- you receive both satisfaction and motivation. The pleasurable experience of using those talents seems to reach some of your deepest motivations” (Clifton, Anderson, Schreiner, 2006, p. 21). The motivation and satisfaction will have positive effects on the employee in his or her workplace. In conclusion, organizations should begin requesting their employees to take strength-finding questionnaires such as the StrengthsFinder Survey. By doing so, employers will have a better understanding of which talents their employees possess. Employers, in turn, will be able to utilize these talents in the workplace.
