Recently, regardless of how good technologies are nowadays, how modern the universe can be using the creativeness and intelligence of human’s mind, we must always not forget to communicate with one another every day. Communication is define as the act of transferring information from one place to another. It may be in a form of vocally, written, visually or non-verbally (skillsyouneed.com, 2017). As for me, the ability to communicate effectively is the most importance of all life skills. This is what I have been struggling in my daily routine life as an international student here in Dublin, Ireland. Back in Malaysia, my first language is Malay, but when I came here for the first time, I found it quite difficult as English is not
When addressing the research question: Does playing video games increase aggressive behavior in children? , surveys will help me gather more information. I would compose a list of questions about a child's behavior for parents to answer after their child has played a violent video game. This list of questions would be my independent variable and my dependent variable would be the responses to the questions in the survey. Unlike naturalistic observation, both the validity and reliability of this research method would be low.
The strengths in using the questionnaire or survey method are the simplicity of collecting the data. The poll or survey method can be an inexpensive way to conduct research. References Creswell, J. W. (2012). Qualitative Inquiry and research design: Choosing Among Five Approaches. London: Sage Publications.
The development of language is essential for children in order to effectively communicate, express emotions, relay ideas and connect with others in a meaningful way. Communication through language involves verbal, non-verbal, and para-verbal elements (Windle & Warren, 1999). The verbal element of language is the oldest form of communication and it can therefore be argued that it is the most important (Gee & Hayes, 2011). Verbal language relates to oral communication, using words, crying or making sounds in order to communicate. Non-verbal language is also an important means of communication, however this is a much newer form (Sampson, as cited by Gee & Hayes, 2011). Non-verbal communication consists of writing, signs, symbols, body language
Oral and Written Communication skills are two of the most important skills a person could have in the workplace. Without the ability to effectively communicate or understand communication in written or auditory form taking and giving direction would be extremely difficult. Oral communication is simply the act of talking and listening. If a person can effectively convey his thoughts in spoken word and interpret others spoken words into their intended thought then they can effectively communicate orally. The same concept can be applied to the written word. The U.S. Deptartment of Labor breaks oral communication into two areas:
Focusing on surveys and questionnaires, and quantitative research methods, it varies on the person getting questioned as to which method they prefer. Some individuals may prefer to fill in a questionnaire, as it is quick and simple for them, whereas someone else would rather have a face-to-face interview because they may find questionnaires to complicated. Giving people the choice gives the more chance of getting a response overall. It is important that the researchers are aware of the advantages and disadvantages because they will then be aware of what method to use, and will know what method is best to use. It is also an advantage to work with experienced researchers in order to find out the best results.

Being able to communicate effectively in a professional manner is vital in most, if not all, career paths. This statement brings up some important questions. Do potential employers really care about an applicant’s communication skills? How will I use communication skills in my own career? How has college improved my own professional communication skills? Understanding how to communicate in a professional manner can help people in their careers and I feel improving my own communication skills will benefit me now and in the future.
Irrespective of the environment in which one works, communication is always vital and a key factor of success. Communication happens both physically and verbally and is absolutely essential if you want to inform someone about something. ‘Loud shouting and even violence are symptoms of the ailment, not remedies.’ (Adair 2009: 3). Communication has two main components; sending out a message to someone, and ensuring the message is received correctly to the other member of the conversation. It is thus fair to say speaking and listening are vital to effective communication. This essay will initially introduce me as a student, and my career. I will give a simple SWOT analysis of me and will then go on and breakdown the different methods and techniques of effective communication. Finally, I will talk about how effective communication is needed in my current position, as well as the future.
Speaking is a natural ability given to most reluctant individuals. Since the beginning of time, it has been assumed that we have a right to speak and use words, thus we naturally begin our development of language during the early stages of live.
