Whether it is watching from a television in a living room or watching from the stands in a stadium, people love watching basketball. For a basketball game to be entertaining to its viewers it has to have talented players, freak athletes, an exciting atmosphere, unpredictability, popularity, and intensity. Even though the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) basketball lacks in talent, it exceeds NBA (National Basketball Association) basketball as more enticing to watch because of its unpredictability and atmosphere. For a basketball league to be entertaining it has to have talented basketball players. The NBA crowd consists of a lot of elderly and laid back people that just can not give the same level of intensity as the youthful student sections in the college arenas. During the college basketball season every game seems like it is a championship game with the crowd chanting and stomping throughout the whole game. In the NBA every game just does not seem to have that feel, especially towards the middle of the 82 game season. It is almost as if the crowd gets bored of watching NBA basketball and is just waiting for the playoffs. Kansas’ Allen Fieldhouse got as loud as 122 decibels during a regular season game (O’Meara). On the other hand a Golden State Warriors playoff game only got around 115 decibels (Tyler). Also some of the sound during NBA games are from artificial noise to make the arena louder. College basketball also secedes the NBA when it comes to the unpredictability of the games and the outcome of seasons. In the NBA fans can often predict the outcomes of games and even who will win the championships. For example, For the last 3 years it had been a consensus that the Golden State Warriors would make the NBA finals and for the last three years it has happened. On the other hand, the NCAA’s March Madness tournament continuously leaves fans on the edge. The March Madness consists of 64 teams that play in a single elimination tournament to crown a national champion. Even though there are favorites to win each game during the tournament anything can happen. One example is in 2012 when 15th seed Lehigh upseted 2nd seed Duke in the first round of the March Madness
