4). People that teach Physical Education learn how to mold the athletes of the future, and how to teach people how to take better care of their bodies (“Physical” para.1). They also teach students skills that they will need to attend college and to enter the job market (“High” para. 1). Some physical education teachers work in either public or private schools, and some work in public magnet and charter schools (“High” para.
Students should be required to take a physical education class every day of the week during school because of the physical and mental health benefits that it provides. Having Physical Education classes will help students build strong bones and muscles. Physical education increases “muscular strength, flexibility, muscular endurance, body composition, and cardiovascular endurance” (“Why Children Need Physical Education”). All of these characteristics are important to improve in one’s body because being strong and having endurance helps keep the body functioning properly. “Without required PE courses, some students might choose to ignore physical activity completely” (“Why Children Need Physical Education”).
Based upon my experience with physical education class and previous sports I’ve played I knew the teacher/coach had to be very supportive and motivational towards his/her students. Also the teacher/coach must be able to teach different activities such as running and stretching. Most importantly a teacher/coach must be able to teach his/her students to be active and healthy. What I wanted to learn based on my experience and researched was how to handle different age groups. For example I questioned if it is easier to work with students from ages nine to eleven years because they are young and very active or is it harder because they are very active which could cause them to not participate or corporate?
I plan to teach at the high school level while also serving as the school’s Athletic Trainer. Idecided to also be a physical education teacher because I want to connect with the children not only through athletics but also through the classroom. I want to be not only a teacher but also a positive role model for the children, someone they can come to in a time of need. Since my classroom will more than likely be in a gymnasium I will not be able to determine how it is set up. However, I will be able to determine where the children sit during class time.
The main objective of any physical education teacher and class is to get the student physically active in order to help them become healthier. Healthy living is the end goal of an effective physical educator. This teacher can either teach specific workouts, games, just make them run around, or play specific sports in their class. The sport education model is a great way to instil this healthy living because not only does it help the students be physically active for that class, but if they find a sport they truly enjoy they can carry on playing that sport for the rest of their lives; thus continuing their healthy living. The sport education model for teaching is an effective way to not only to get students involved and active but also to teach the many different factors and benefits sports can offer.
Also for the first two careers I am playing sports which help me to become familiar with the injuries involved in sports and how to treat some of them just from watching. The further education required for the Sports related jobs (will do report from Athletic training point of view) are a 4-year degree from an accredited college, and you usually also need to be certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA). An Athletic Trainer helps athletes recover from injuries, and they also work to treat and prevent future ones. In professional and collegiate level teams Athletic Trainers work alongside team doctors to aid players. They also help athletes quickly heal from minor things such as sore muscles after competing.
They also work for other health care professionals, coaches, or parents (Athletic Training Association). While working full time for a sports team, they are faced with tough decisions that could affect the players’ health or career. They must also be able to make fast decisions under pressure. A trainer working for a team can advance their job by switching teams or even becoming an Athletic Training director (Campus Explorer). Athletic Trainers are certified in prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehab and reconditioning, organization and administration and professional responsibility (Athletic Training Association).
In addition, a student who wants to be a Physical Therapy can complete a curriculum of a Doctor of Physical Therapy, a Master of Physical Therapy, or a Degree Mas... ... middle of paper ... ...ve an accident to recovery from an injury. I would like to help these patients and see how they have progress throughout the treatment. I discovered from this health field that to be a physical therapist is very important because you have to deal not only with patients but also with different equipment that are required for some treatments. Also, Physical Therapy is a lifelong learning career. The most common and long-term place to find this support is within their family. This is why I have decided to become a teacher at the pre-school/ head start level. I feel that it is very important, during this age, for the teacher to involve the parents in the learning process as much as possible. As I continue to develop as a professional, I would like to pursue a master’s degree and eventually become the director of an integrated pre-school/ head start program. With this position, I would be able to develop programs to help the families learn skills needed to help themselves which will, in turn, help the child.
Teachers have the ideal work schedule I think. I may have some paper work to do or school functions to attend, but this job will allow me to spend time with my family. If I decided to have children this would allow me to have the quality time I want to spend with them also. Overall the positive aspects of teaching greatly out weigh the negative ones from my point of view. My major is physical education and health, which will allow me to teach something I am passionate about; physical fitness.
