People are constantly setting goals for themselves in hopes of changing their life or just looking to start something new. Obviously time is a big factor as to when those dreams will come true and how those goals will be achieved, but I know for athletes, it is tough playing their last game and eventually hanging the jersey up. And a common goal that athletes have after kissing that jersey goodbye is to become a coach. After all the years of playing sports and being a part of club teams, can be tiring and too much in the moment, but in the end, after all is said and done, many athletes wish they could go back and play one more game. Be a part of one more victory or championship, or even be able to get their butts kicked during conditioning just one more time. After all, a good way to give back to the sport and to in a way, relive those glory moments, is by coaching. Becoming a coach is nothing easy and comes with a lot of pressure, time and commitment, but can be a fun and easy way to get back into something they once loved as a child and teenager. The best ways to become a successful coach is by connecting with and motivating athletes, making sure winning is not the overall focus, and being confident and open minded. Because the confidence within an athlete is tough to have and to keep, coaches need to encourage, support, and motivate athletes to be the best that they can be (Duncan). Becoming a coach comes with many ups and downs, time and commitment, but only a select few will be successful in their coaching careers if they follow the correct instructions. If coaches connect with their athletes, specify the overall focus, and establish confidence within each other, they will be the most successful coaches they can
