I will be using ballet class and playing in the garden situation for this assessment for observation and afterwards do compare and contrast in this assessment. Ballet class is a learning center that can nurture or teach children to become more disciplines and have good attitudes. Ballet class helps to give children the learning ability which activates their brain naturally through whole body movement and coordination. Besides that, playing in the garden usually is at outdoor, children can enjoy of the nature environment, and will have more freedom, creativity and imagination. There are three girls and two boys in this situation and their age is from 7 to 9 years old. In the garden, some of the parents sit on the chair and reading book while some of them chatting with each other. They did not take care of their children and let their children having adventure in the garden. When I observed children playing in the garden, children spend the time with nature in the garden, so that they can build imagination. Children are happily and enjoying their busy adventure in the garden. Moreover, children are innately able to find materials such as sticks, stones, leaves, flowers and sand and turn into anything they want. For example, children pretend stick as a sword, stone as a bomb, and leaves as prop money. Parents allow their children to use imagination or symbolic play when in the garden, so that children can imagine using stick as a sword to protect them, leaves as money to buy the …show more content…

The children I observed in the ballet class are 5 to 7 years old; while the age of children playing in the garden are around 7 to 9 years old. In the ballet class situation, it is a serious and formal learning place that prepare children for examination, while playing in the garden children can be more freedom and it helps to build children’s creative. For example, in ballet class children will follow the syllabus that prepare for exam which given by teacher. In contrast, children are playing in the garden free and easy, they use their own imagination and come up with new and special ideas. Mayesky (2013) proposed that creativity helps children to explore the world, and also helps children to discover and appreciate their own unique characteristics and personality traits. In addition, ballet class have their own dance rules and regulation however in the garden there are no rules and regulation. For example, when children need to drink water or go to toilet, they will need to ask for permission from teacher, but in the garden, children can do anything they want to
