Different people have their own methods to cope with everyday situation and some other difficulties that arise in their lives. Throughout this semester, my classmates and I have explored several activities, such as art therapy, guided imagery, and imagery. According to Suzanne Degges-White and Nancy L. Davis, visual art, music, dance/movement, drama, and expressive writing are the primary expressive arts modalities used in counseling. The one I enjoyed the most was visual art therapy. I have learned that art takes on many forms and can be exhibited in various methods of artistic form of expression. Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy involves inspiration that promotes self-expression by painting or drawing that helps diagnose the individual. Art therapy is practiced in mental health, rehabilitation, medical, educational wellness, private practice and community settings with diverse client populations in individual, couples, family, and group therapy format.
