The Impact on America of Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton were completely at odds in their vision on how America was to develop. Hamilton wanted to concentrate power in a centralized federal government with limited access and Jefferson wished to diffuse it among all the eligible freemen of the time. Alexander Hamilton feared anarchy and distrusted popular rule while Jefferson feared tyranny and thought in terms of liberty and freedom.
Thomas Jefferson was an agrarian soul who favored popular rule. He placed his trust in the land and the people who farmed it and desired that America would remain a nation of farmers. He emphasized liberty, democracy, and social welfare and believed that the main purpose of government was to assure freedom of its individual citizens. He had a fear of tyranny and distrusted centralized power, especially from an aristocracy or a moneyed class. Thomas Jefferson favored the spread of power ranging from the federal level to state and local levels. Jefferson stated, ?I have never observed men?s honesty to increase with their riches.';
Alexander Hamilton, on the other side, distrusted popular rule and emphasized law, order, authority and property. Alexander Hamilton wanted to promote commerce and industry through a strong central government. He also would diversify American economic life by encouraging shipping and creating manufacturing by legislative directive. Hamilton also believed that a ...
In the initial stages of independence, the United States was still a weak and vulnerable country. Thus, it was necessary to implement plans that not only had the goal of a bright future, but would help the United States survive to that point. Due to the countries weak state, and his influential position atop the United States treasury, Hamilton was able to implement most of his economic policies. The biggest of which were his consolidation of international and domestic debt and creating a national bank. Republics were seen as weak back then, they very rarely succeeded and the U.S. was already in a vulnerable state because of the revolutionary war. Hamilton’s national bank and centralized government was a good idea in this aspect because it not only would create a sense of unification and power among the U.S. but it also put foreign debts first, which was
Both of these Founding Fathers, supporting two different “political parties,” had their own economical, political, and world views. Thomas Jefferson viewed America as a model for the world because it allowed the people to pursue and discover their own destiny. He believed that the nation was destined to open toward a new era, because the free people were immaculate of the moral energy to change the world in a new way (Couvares 5). That is when he set his vision to America’s society and stated, “Those who labor in the earth are the chosen people of God.” Jefferson then believed that strong, independent farmers should have a say in all political concerns. At that time, he was holding a steady pace to the economy’s wealth, and believed that it should continue on as an agricultural economy (Henretta et al 198-199). Jefferson was heavily know...
Both, Hamilton and Jefferson were founding fathers. They saw the need for a successful American government, and the need to re-write the Articles of the Confederation. Both wanted America to succeed and become a great nation. However, they had different opinions on how the nation should get there and who should be in power.
In Igbo society, the sex of a baby determines the family’s happiness. If the baby was a boy it meant greater joy for the family, but if the baby was a girl the parents received mixed feelings. The reasoning behind parents being joyful for males is because the son will take his father’s place when he dies and continue with his family line. On the other hand, parents felt sorrow towards their baby girl because they knew that women are viewed as weak in the society. Also the father would be disappointed because his lineage will become slimmer; the female will soon be married off to another man. This issue was seen in the book Things Fall Apart when Okonkwo was talking about his daughter Ezinma. In the book it says, “She should have been a boy” (Achebe, 1959, p. 6). This quote supports the fact that Okonkwo wanted a boy instead because he saw the advantages he would have had. He would be happier by knowing a male would carry on his name. Contrasting to this culture, in the American society gender does not play a role
...ons of people, the plans will never be successful and will forever be a burden on the public. Hamilton was more concerned with the government as a whole, while Madison was concerned with the people that the government will affect.
Jefferson, secretary of state, and Hamilton, secretary of the treasury, had different ideas on almost every topic. It mainly seemed to do with how they viewed people in general, and their ability to govern themselves. Hamilton basically thought that ordinary people weren’t intelligent enough to run the country, and therefore he felt that a few professional politicians should run the government (Davis 86). He brought this topic up at the Constitutional Convention by saying that people divided themselves into two groups, “the wealthy and well born” and “the mass of the people.” He went on to say that “the people are turbulent and changing” and “they seldo...

Polluted air in general contains one or more hazardous substances that create hazards for the health of living individuals. Pollutants within the air are measured in terms of particulate matter (PM); or the number of particles of potentially hazardous substances as a percentage of air. Outdoor air pollutants can create acid rain, which affects the environment and depletion of the ozone layer by chlorofluorocarbons (CFC's), which increases the risk of skin cancer and cataracts in human individuals. Indoor air pollution seems to have more of a significant affect on health than outdoor air pollution; considering the fact that most people spend more of their time indoors than out (1).
What is air pollution? It basically is all of the contaminants that are in the air because of smog, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, monoxide, and all of these contaminants come from major pollutants. Air pollution is a big problem. In a questionnaire I asked twenty people if they thought that it is a big problem and all twenty responded with yes, that they do believe it’s a big problem (Chan). Air pollution can be solved from making or causing a greater damage in the near future. Cars and industries are the major components of air pollution because of all the carbon that they release into the air. As every day goes by we are inhaling all of this bad air, and it is slowly affecting all of us. Something should be done to solve this problem.
