Four airplanes were hijacked by terrorists and crashed into the World Trade Center and The Pentagon. The fourth plane was crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania after passengers retaliated against the hijackers. The terrorist attacks on America that day were performed by an Islamic terrorist group name al-Queda, led by Osama bin Laden. In total nearly 3,000 people were killed in the attacks including the civilians and hijackers aboard the planes. On September 20, 2001 George W. At 8:20 American Airlines Flight 77 took off from Dulles International Airport in Virginia and shortly after at 8:42 United Airlines Flight 93 left Newark International Airport en route for San Francisco. Although the attacks on the Twin Towers on September 11th were tragic and will never be forgotten, they did make America a safer place. The polices that were enacted after the attacks improved the security of America by initiating better security at airports and better surveillance to prevent any future attacks. However many Americans do not approve of the policies saying they are an invasion of privacy and that it makes air travel difficult. These may seem strict rules but if we are to keep America safe we require them. The attacks may have been a serious blow to America, but in the end America came out a stronger, better equipped country. With the completion of One World Trade Center come close, it just goes to show how much stronger the attacks on September 11, 2001 made America.

One example is the phobia people now have against people of Middle-Eastern decent or people that practice the Islamic religion. Since people think differently of these groups, they do not treat them with the respect they give to other people. They can be denied jobs, education, housing because of their religion and/or their Middle Eastern background.
