Abstract Technology serves many of our daily needs, purposes and desires. Technology and social media have become something that we cannot live or function without in many of our daily tasks. Countless technological advances have increased our quality of life in many respects, but as with what is good and beneficial there are also bad aspects associated with the overabundance and intrusions of technology in our daily lives. Social media is one of those tools that can have a lot of beneficial applications associated with it, especially in the areas of law enforcement, and enhancing community relations with law enforcement organizations. Law enforcement agencies should have a policy or guidelines and procedures in place to address occurrences of misconduct, and the release of information by staff of law enforcement organizations through social media. Policy Development The 21st century has already been labeled the century of technology, and the rate of technological growth is exponential. Technology serves many of our daily needs and purposes, and has almost become something that we cannot live or function without. Many of the technological advances have increased our quality of life in many respects, but as with what is good there are also bad aspects associated with any changes in our daily lives. Gone are the days where computers and computer systems occupied whole buildings, or a single floor of a building. Companies have created home desktop computers that have more memory and are faster than the computers of old.
