During the industrial revolution, people were forced from a mostly agricultural existence into a more urban lifestyle where purpose build machinery, factories were opened and items were produced in mass form. The textile and iron industries boomed and there were also improved systems to communication, banking and transportation. This assignment will focus on inventions during the industrial revolution and will highlight how they are still used today. The Spinning Jenny Hillstrom & Hillstrom (2007) tells us that the industry that started the industrial revolution in England is the textile industry. Cloth was made by hand for bedspreads, trousers, shirts, jumpers and these required lots of skill and took a long time to make. People became more aware that they needed more and more textile goods.
