Information technology is the application of computers and telecommunication equipment to store, retrieve, transmit, and manipulate data. This includes distributing and manufacturing information. This use of technology can be applied in the workforce, the educational system, and social life. Centuries ago, people did not have the means of technology that we have now. Alexander Graham Bell received the patent for his invention of the telephone in 1876. The first fully functioning computer was developed from 1936- 1938 by Konrad Zuse in his parent’s living room. The Internet has been developing since the 1950’s. Things are still being added to the Internet, the databases are surging with information. We live in a world where we are surrounded …show more content…
Computers are prime examples of information technology. They can communicate and store and retrieve data. Phones are another example. We can call and text message on mobile devices. Messages are sent wirelessly. We can also have conversations through videos. Information technology has some ethical problems. Hackers and identity thieves are in today’s society. Information can easily be gathered through the Internet and other kinds of communications devices. Emails can send spam or junk mail that contain viruses and other harmful Trojan horses that damage computers. Spying is very common, whether it be done through cameras or through computers. The controversial Patriot Act gives the government its freedom to spy on citizens of this country. By this, we are under the government’s surveillance. Nearly every occupation uses these means of communication. Because of these devices and means of communication, the world has become more unified. Leaders of countries can communicate through videos and phone calls. Things such as writing letters, receiving mail, buying hard copy CDs, and reading books are becoming less common. Some of those things were new to the generation before this …show more content…
The 2013 word of the year was the word “Selfie”, quickly sending pictures to each other. Technology has come a long way. Most people have cell phones and home phones. I believe that long in the future, cell phones may replace desktop computers. I have a cell phone that I use to communicate with my friends and family. I also enjoy spending time watching television. I receive the shows that I watch by a modem. Modems transmit information. I like to listen to the radio and hear music from previous decades. Radios are a form of information technology. My laptop is used to write my ideas for books. I have both a Facebook and a Twitter account. They are dormant but I can get on them to interact with my friends and family that live in other areas. The Internet is also an example of information technology. I sometimes like to surf the internet to catch up on my favorite shows or research something I’m interested in. Information is constantly being shared on the Internet. Websites I sometimes visit like Wikipedia, are being edited by people around the world. They can edit a website from their own homes. I can also watch television and movies through the Internet. I like to use search engines such as Yahoo and Google. Those are information databases. I look up videos on YouTube. Again, people all over the world are sharing videos on this site. On You Tube, you can also make comments about the videos you
Ms.Amarachinta was born in India, the country that is famous for its developed information technology industry. In 1992, she went to college and studied as an undergraduate in India. Guided by a family member and seeing the great need for computer engineers in the future, Ms.Amarachinta decided to take computer science as her major. During that time, internet just appeared in people’s lives as a new invention. There were no social networks, no smart phones, none of those technology products people use today existed at that time. “When I first started [using the internet], nobody used it for entertainment as people do today. The only form of electronic communication was through e-mail, even that was not common in students with other majors”, said Ms.Amarachinta. In fact, it is nearly impossible for anyone who lived in 1990s to imagine the popularity of social networking today; similarly, teenagers who grew up with electrical products could hardly understand the old way of life people used to have. The advancement in technology
Based on what I have read, and experienced there is many things which constitute a failure as an IT Manager. However, one of the most important in my opinion is the ability to add value to the organization. I feel in many cases the IT managers as well as the IT professionals of an organization are not given the proper respect they deserve because IT managers do not know how to show their true value to the organization. In many cases the leadership of the organization believes they are a liability instead of an asset. This to me is a totally failure on the part of the IT Manager because of all the arduous work has done (that is in most situations). Additionally, I believe that IT managers who do not understand
With the growth of technology it allowed for the growth of available information as well as advanced ways of communication. The initial intention of computers and technology was to serve the working or business class, to help companies create better products for their consumers. Next, the tools that were previously only used to facilitate businesses then started becoming more domestic, little by little people and families began owning desktop computers in their homes .By innovating t...
Information security refers to “the process and methodologies that are designed and implemented to protect print, electronic, or any other form of confidential, private and sensitive information or data from unauthorized access, use, misuse, disclosure, destruction, modification, or disruption” (SANS Institute, n.d.). Information security programs are important in maintaining confidentiality, integrity, and availability (figure 1 page X). For example, a Trojan horse was planted on your system and result in the loss of customers’ personal and financial information. This failure to protect data will result in a loss, legal liability, and goodwill. In this scenario, both confidentiality and
A company that has fallen behind the competition with other companies in their services, that state is known as competitive disadvantage. It has emerged as a factor because business which can’t stay constant and frequently change their state on the cutting edge of IT can drop down in the competition, given the current fast pace of technological advances. It is a main factor because most of the organizations have an IT system in the present time. Therefore all the organizations need to improve their IT systems to avoid the drop down when compared with different organizations. Organizations finance in information security for a lot of reasons, from a business perspective, any organization is inspired to ensure or be secure against aggressive burden.
The institution of the computer, along with the related technologies, has had a major effect on numerous parts of our daily lives. Unluckily, this has not at all times been for the better. Technology is frequently discussed in society as to whether it has a positive or a negative impact on our lives. Various people think that the technology can only cause harm while others toughly support technology as it has made their lives much more enriching and easy than it has been in the past. In my belief both of these opinions are correct to a particular extent, initially I will deal with the positive influences of Information Technology (IT).

Information technology has had a great influence in our lives. Innovations such as television, internet, radio, cellular phones, etc., have influenced the way we teach, the way we shop, the way we maintain ourselves informed, and also the way we view sports.
Information Technology is Information technology also referred as (IT), as defined by the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA), is "the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware." Information Technology deals with the use of electronic computers and computer software to convert, store, protect process, transmit, and securely retrieve information. Within the profession of IT people can perform many jobs in the
“We barely have time to pause and reflect these days on how far communicating through technology has progressed. Without even taking a deep breath, we’ve transitioned from email to chat to blogs to social networks and more recently to twitter” (Alan 2007). Communicating with technology has changed in many different ways. We usually “get in touch” with people through technology rather than speaking with them face to face. The most popular way people discuss things, with another individual, is through our phones. Phones have been around way before I was born in 1996, but throughout the years, they have developed a phone called a “smart phone”. The smart phone has all kinds of new things that we can use to socialize with our peers. On these new phones, we can connect with our friends or family on social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Technology has also developed Skype, a place you can talk with people on the computer with instant voice and video for hours. The new communication changes have changed drastically from the new advances made in technology through our smart phones, social networking sites, and Skype.
Informational technology has helped so many people keep in touch with others, interact with others through social networking, help employees with work or help employers figure out whom their hiring. So how could informational technology help me? In plenty of ways, then not. One being through social, educational, and another being professional. So having all of this technology might be a bit overwhelming, but overall it is helpful to almost everyone. This newer technology today can help so many people with so many different things whether it be talking to your best friend, skyping with your future boss about your future career, spending over eight hours doing research on a paper that’s due in less than twenty-four hours away or just sitting on your computer for hours watching cat videos on the internet. It’s all how you spend and use your time on the internet.
In 21st century the information technology has become a part and parcel of every person’s daily life. It has been defined as the century of advancement of and application of information technology which act as a change agent in different aspects of business and society. Generally speaking, information is defined as knowledge derived from experience, study or instruction. Technology is defined as a use of material tools and techniques and applications of knowledge to the practical aims of human life. So, information technology is defined as the use of computers and information are associated which has the ability to electronically stores, process, input, output, transmit, design, implement, receive data and information, support or management of computer based information system, particularly computer hardware, services and software applications. Information technology applications are used in almost every aspects of life i.e. Science and engineering (observation of weather conditions, computer aided design, computer manufacturing design etc.), business and commerce(tracking payments and supplies, point of scale, robots etc.), Education (instruction methodology by use of computers,
People today use technology in their daily lives. It helps us to make our life easier and
