History is a body of knowledge that has surrounded not only the events of the past but also their consequences. History is concerned with evidence about human beings who have lived in the society. It’s so concerning with how human lives have changed through time. It’s not only the explanation about the distant past but also that contemporary world. History is concerned with people in the society, their interaction and their relationships with their environment. History had an impact on society because interaction between society and its past is an unending one, the interaction is mutual and continuous. The past exists only in the mind and memories of those in the present. Since history is said to be concerning with people in the society, their …show more content…
Farmers in western states of America are affected by market prices in Asia. Companies outsource low-tech and high-tech jobs. Foreign political policy is as important as domestic policy. Technological interventions become possible in very personal decisions, such as having children and eating certain foods. Human rights questions become complicated and confusing. People have always reacted and adapted to change. The changes themselves are different like genetic modifications and new weapons of destruction. Scientists have new tools to study dynamics of change: Computer-assisted modeling and methods such as geographical information systems, that can integrate the work of many kinds of scientists. The new scientific capabilities hold significant promise for making breakthroughs in understanding impacts and human responses to changes of all …show more content…
Every invention has affected people on how they can relate to one another and how cultures have expanded to different things. People create languages always, so they can communicate and learn from elders through their stories. They have made tools for agriculture, so they can build homes and create weapons for hunting and protection. Civilizations have been impacted by natural disasters, encroachment from other civilizations, and from problems within their own community. Not only technology increased humans’ life spans, but how people live, how long people live, and how much people are there. Technology is used to grow cities, build houses so people can live, make money because everybody can be rich, people are socializing with each other a lot, and the way of teaching and learning is changing from time to time because of how technology is advancing for the future. People with dreams migrated to achieve their dreams and have wonderful lives. In all of history, the wealthy and powerful were the only people who had access to literature and great education. The people who are normal (poor people who have dreams to achieve) receives news from the printing press. The normal people also reads books and attend school. Inventions changed the world like the Internet that allows people from all over the world to access information at any time and refrigerators that were built to cool things down. Communities were developed inside big
The study of past events have been a common practice of mankind since the verbal telling of stories by our ancestors. William Cronon, in his article “Why the Past Matters,” asserts that the remembrance of the past “keeps us in place.” Our individual memories and experiences shape how we act in our daily lives. In addition to influencing us at an individual level, our collective history binds us together as a society. Without knowing where we have been or what we have experienced, it is nearly impossible to judge progress or know which courses of action to pursue. The goal of the historian is to analyze and explain past events, of which they rarely have firsthand memory of, and apply the gained knowledge to make connections with current and future events.
Technology has affected individual lives in many ways. One way is social media; it can help people be able to communicate online. They no longer have to see each other face to face or talk to each other on the phone. Another way is internet; people no longer need books to research things you can find almost anything on the internet now. It can also increase more Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Computer Vision Syndrome.
First, an example of technology affecting humankind would be the invention of gunpowder. Gunpowder invented in China was is used in fireworks, bombs, and the propulsion of bullets. Gunpowder The use of gunpowder in things such as bullets, fireworks, and even bombs can be used positively or negatively. Bullets can be used to hunt and defend a person’s self and property. Fireworks are used to celebrate or honor something or someone (Heather Whipps). Bombs can be used to open locked doors by our army to free people. On the other hand, if a child gets a hold of a firework, they could blow off one of their own fingers. Bombs and bullets can be used to wage wars (Heather Whips). There are other
Imagine where the world would stand without technology. Technology has advanced over the centuries. In 1752, Benjamin Franklin first invented the lightning rod which Franklin’s invention led to the rise in technology. In the 1790’s Eli Whitney created the cotton gin along with interchangeable parts. Another great invention was 1873’s typewriter that Christopher Latham Sholes created. The typewriter is the prototype of the high-tech computers we use today. In 1927, Philo Farnsworth established television which is used by many people as a source of news and entertainment. With the increase of technology, doctors are discovering cures and resolution to people 's health problems. These are only a few inventions that
History is dedicated to those who went before us, so that, upon reflection, we can learn from them, without repeating their mistakes, experiencing or inflicting their pain. This quote, attributed to an anonymous source, showcases the deep understanding that all people should have. Without this direct insight, a generation will be ignorant to the hardships of their past, and will end up in a cycle of failure. This is why history is so vitally important to our society; because we must look back in order to keep moving forward. History should be studied because it is essential to individuals and to society, and because it harbors beauty (Stearns). It is not some meager thing to sit on a shelf and ignore, but a bountiful treasure trove of wisdom. Sadly, it seems that our generation has become so engulfed in the highlight of the here and now that we have neglected learning about our ancestors. Educators of history, whether it is American, European, or another, are the key to helping students progress not only as scholars of the field, but as worldly human beings. Without the proper knowledge and guidance, history repeats itself. How do history teachers shape students to educate them about the past and keep the mistakes of our predecessors from happening again?
History. What is history? History is not just a complete story from the perspective of a man nor women. But it is a replica that tells the story of our communities, cities, countries, and the world. History by definition is the account of change over a period of time. For centuries, people have altered the environment in order to meet their needs. The effect of these changes have brought upon both positive and negative effects on the environment, societies, and regions. Some include the development of irrigation in ancient Egypt, the construction of chinampas by the Aztecs, and the mining of coal in Great Britain. Throughout time, many of the ancient civilizations have gone through inconvenient setbacks while trying to complete their goal. Nevertheless,
Firstly, your food. Corn. Corn was the staple food product of the Native Americans, it was their wheat. Now days you find it in just about everything you eat (High Fructose Corn Syrup). But fried fish in cornmeal, cornbread, and crawfish boils, tortillas, nachos, popcorn, grits (hominy), on and on. Does the potato even need mentioning? Then you have Bourbon Whiskey. Well with that you get Jack Daniels and Jim Beam as well as white lightning or moonshine. Well, lots of prohibition liquors were moonshine, as well as moonshiners who used to modify their cars to evade their police began to race them on dirt tracks, and then later paved ovals. Today, we call it NASCAR. Then of course we also have peanuts they grew, that means no Peanut Butter and Jelly, made famous in WWI as a quick sandwich meal handed off to troops as they boarded transportation. History affects the way we think, speak, and interact with each other. If we look at the history of
Everyone believes something different. Many people believe society has a large impact on today’s world. Many people believe you should read a book by its cover and not allow any underclassmen into your life due to their class in the world. While today many people are not punished for what they have done, in the olden day in age, everyone of everyone was punished for every crime that wasn’t allowed. Society has changed so much through the years, it has helped and also harmed our small and very large communities greatly. The Scarlet Letter, The Crucible, and Of Mice and Men are great ways to show how society has affected today’s day in age.
Back when there were not rapid advances in technology, people were living agreeably amongst each other. They used candles, wrote letters, and invested their time in reading and gaining more knowledge. They did not have all the luxuries people have today, but they were content. They valued education, the arts, and hard work. In Europe, people such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Galileo, Copernicus, Monet, Einstein, and others strove to depict the beauty of their world and find explanations to natural phenomena. Richard Eckersley wrote, “It doesn’t make evolutionary sense to believe humans lived in misery until we discovered technological progress.” When people did not realize the potential of technology, they lived their life in contentment. Once people became aware of the fact that they could perform tasks quicker with the newer technology, they began wanting more of it. Scientists began researching and conducting experiments to enhance the new inventions. As they found ways to produce items...
The world has all different types of technology right now. Technology has influenced the world in some many different ways. There are multiple reasons how and why technology has influenced people in a bad way. Technology changed society from how it used to be to how it is now and will more in likely change again in five years. Technology is creating a society where people are dependent on technology and are taking over people and changing them completely.
Technology has had negative affects on people and their everyday lives. People have become much more lazy with the enhancements of technology all around the globe. It has made people much too reliant on connections with other men and women by having a constant connection to them and their phones. But even though having a constant connection with someone through cell phones and social media may seem that we are more social than we have been in the past, we are slowly becoming more distant from human interactions. Technology has made people so very much dependent on modern technology in their everyday lives and would have problems functioning without it. The negative affects of technology are significantly more than the positive outcomes and is deteriorating the human races progress in advancement. Causing generations of children growing up and being stunted in intellectual growth because of their dependence on technology. In such historical advancements in technology, one would like to believe that we are indeed going forward but we in fact are going in reverse.
History is a story told over time. It is a way of recreating the past so it can be studied in the present and re-interpreted for future generations. Since humans are the sole beneficiaries of history, it is important for us to know what the purpose of history is and how historians include their own perspective concerning historical events. The purpose and perspective of history is vital in order for individuals to realise how it would be almost impossible for us to live out our lives effectively if we had no knowledge of the past. Also, in order to gain a sound knowledge of the past, we have to understand the political, social and cultural aspects of the times we are studying.
It is this technology, more precisely new ideas, small innovation and new methods through the period of time that has so far helped us feed this massive population. This meant that old farming methods were replaced as soon as a new technique or instrument came to make farming more efficient. For example the old farming methods included working on fields using hands or with animal drawn equipment. This meant that farms were smaller because farmers could work so much land. Moreover, these old farming methods meant that the crop is still high at risk of getting damaged from a disease, face some weather related mishap or the soil isn’t nutrient enough to support a good yield of the crop. Technology have brought in improvements that have made a large impact on the way and amount farmers are able to farm. One of them is the introduction of farm machinery such as tractor, harvester and other motorized equipment that allowed farmers to work on far greater land in smaller amount of time with less labor and yet produce far greater yield. One of the major advancement made in agriculture is through seed technology. New seed technology introduced farmers to genetically modified seeds that are able to withstand harsh weather which means that even in
History is the bridge that connects the past with the present. Without history, we have no future. The past gives value to our present. David C. McCullough stated, “History is a guide to navigation in perilous times. History is who we are and why we are the way we are”. I agree with McCullough, history gives us a purpose. History allows us to investigate and interpret the past in order to see how we developed and where we came from. We can get an idea of what has influenced our past and present, and also what will shape our future. We can see what previous generations did and whether or not t...
I define history as important events that have happened in the past, and the ones that are presently happening. At some time or another everything will be considered history. History tells a story, whether it’s written, painted, carved, or sung; a collection of events that someone explains to you that is usually important.
