The ideas of freedom and good are closely related. Freedom is the idea of being free or at peace instead of being trapped or unable to live as you choose. Good is something that is right or proper. Without the concept of good, there would not be freedom, a fundamental, universal right.
There are many good things in life that make life “good”. For instance, equality, is extremely important. Whether it be about race, sex, religion or age, all people have the right to be equal. If capable of doing the job correctly, they must receive the same wage as others doing what they are doing. As stated in The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, “Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person.”
While it does not directly state that this article refers to race, articles four and five in the Declaration also mention that slavery or any kind of torture is wrong and should be prohibited. Because humans have free will, it is accepted that they may make mistakes along the way. The average person can handle free will. They know the difference from right and wrong and generally choose to do the right thing in tough situations. On the other hand, there is a lot of bad people in the world today and in the past. People who try and hurt others on purpose for no reason do not deserve the freedom given to them. Bullies in schools, for example, are given free will. Once they begin to act out and harm their peers, teachers begin to watch closely and slowly take away their freedom. This system works well through high school, however, once in college, most students do not have the supervision they may need. For this reason, unless, the bully is breaking the law, they are free to do as they please. This is a reason freedom might be considered
People should benefit from freedom, equality and justice. Absolute freedom is sometimes very dangerous and may destroy the basic principles of the society. A lot of people believe that freedom means doing whatever you want, whenever you want.
Article 4 from The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is dedicated towards the abolishment of human slavery. To clear up any confusion, verbatim it states, “No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.” The United Nations General Assembly created The Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. In 1961, the US Freedom Rides was quite a significant event that is still remembered by many Americans and African-Americans today. It was the time when racial discrimination and segregation had existed and has had an immense effect and impact on African-Americans. Yet, it had ended after a lot of hard work protesting, campaigning in different areas of America and thanks to some key events that had also helped along with these including the Birmingham Campaign and Martin Luther King Jr’s activism. Even though freedom means the state of being uncontrolled by another, or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint, I believe that freedom means being able to accomplish what you desire and when you desire it without anyone saying anything, by reason of the comparison and contrast of our society and the society in the book Anthem by Ayn Rand, the negation of the word freedom, and synonyms of the word freedom. I believe that you should accept the consequences of the actions you take when you have your “freedom” as well.

Patriotism begins with knowing some historic background of one’s country. The following is a short intro to pass through the timeline of USA’s history. Most Americans have heard that Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492. He came to what is now America. Several years pass and George Washington becomes the first president. This is when the constitution is ratified. The constitution declares our freedoms as American citizens. States begin to form, such as Vermont and Kentucky. They were the first two states to be admitted to the United States. John Adams and Thomas Jefferson had the presidential terms in the late 1700s and early 1800s.
The Free Speech Movement (FSM) at the University of California at Berkeley started during the fall of 1964. (Freeman, Jo) But there were many events leading up to this point. The Free Speech Movement began to obtain momentum in the fall of 1963 and the spring of 1964 the Bay Area was rocked with the civil rights demonstrations against employers who practiced racial discrimination. (Freeman, Jo) These students believed that this was wrong and felt the need to do something about it. So many Berkeley students were recruited for these protests from Bancroft and Telegraph which where the companies that were racial discriminating against races and groups of people.(Freeman, Jo) With these protest there were many arrest made of Berkeley students there were about 500 arrests made over several months. The reconstruction Era is the time after the civil war when we started to form ourselves as a complete united country. The civil war ended in April of 1865, and Abraham Lincoln was sadly assassinated less than a week later. Reconstruction was Lincoln’s idea, and he was largely anti-slavery, so his plan for reconstruction involved all states to draft new state constitutions that completely abolished slavery. It was his ultimate goal to reunited our nation after the war. Unfortunately, after his death, Lincoln’s vice president, Andrew Johnson, took over, and introduced a different plan for reconstruction. He said that states had to take a vow to abolish slavery before they could be readmitted into the nation, but after that, horrible black codes
A common error that people make is that the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4th our national Independence day in the United States, but the truth is that the document was only approved on July 2nd and wasn’t even signed until August 2nd. The document was signed by 56 colonial delegates, and was used to explain why they want to break free from Britain. This document consists of 4 parts, statement of purpose, the contract theory of government, grievances, and the conclusion, the two major parts are the contract theory of government, grievances; they make up the bulk of the document. The colonists wanted to officially split from Britain due to the many unjust things Britain had done. The Declaration of Independence was a list of those unjust things and who gave them the authority to split.
Freedom is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. In America there is numerous of choices that someone may make on a daily basis. If someone were allowed to make their own choices and were being told what to do; then they would not be free. When someone is allowed to speak when they want to, and say what they want; such as their opinion or view of something. Being allowed to have a right to speak is one of the most important characteristics of being an American. Throughout time, many Americans have fought for freedom. From the Pilgrims, who set sail from England to the shores of Cape Cod to escape religious persecution, to the Founding Fathers of America who fought for freedom from England’s oppression, our fellow Americans have always fought for what they believed in. They gained certain freedoms that they thought would not only be important to them, but to future generations. However, it is evident that society today does not value those same freedoms.
Good can mean to be considerate for other people or to put their needs before your own. Good is doing something beneficial to help out someone in need. It can be based solely on the love, bonding, and affection that begin at the earliest stages of personal development. If a child is raised only being taught the good, then when they get older they will only know good. People grow up to be the people they are because of their childhood. The things you learn as a youth stay with you for the rest of your life.
