The Pros And Cons Of Hybrid Cars

The amount of emission being produced is increasing as more cars are being bought by people. Therefore, the worries of drivers, and as well as others, is on the increase. The auto industry had come up with a technology to address these concerns. It’s the hybrid car. Many automobile manufacturers throughout Canada are already producing and manufacturing these cars. And, and many are already being seen on the roads already. What is a hybrid vehicle? Any vehicle that combines two or more sources of power that can directly or indirectly provide impulsion power is a hybrid. A significant amount of hybrid cars on the roads right now are gasoline-electric hybrids. The gasoline-electric hybrid car is just what it sounds like -- a cross between a gasoline-powered …show more content…

The engine then turns a transmission, which turns the wheels. An electric car, on the other hand, has a set of batteries that provides electricity to an electric motor. The motor turns a transmission, and the transmission turns the wheels. The hybrid is a compromise. It attempts to significantly increase the mileage and reduce the emissions of a gas-powered car while overcoming the shortcomings of an electric car. The hybrid is a compromise between the two types. It attempts to significantly increase the mileage and reduce the emissions of a gas-powered car while overcoming the shortcomings of an electric car. A car must meet certain requirements. The car should be able to drive at least 300 miles (482 km) before re-fuelling, be refuelled quickly and easily, and be able to keep up with the other traffic on the road. A gasoline car meets these …show more content…

The batteries do not need to be charged from an external source due to the Regenerative Breaking technology. These cars, in general, help reduce the dependency on fossil fuels which directly affects fuel prices. Brings a peace-of-mind to the drivers as they can now be certain that they are contributing much less to the greenhouse effect, and that they can drive further with the same amount of gas/price. The major concern of hybrid cars is the large battery pack to energize an electric motor (or motors) sharing drive duties and space with a gasoline engine. It is the batteries and the high-voltage conducting cables that are routed under the passenger compartment connecting it to the motor(s) that cause the greatest concern. Some questions have been on the rise, such as the likelihood of battery explosions or leaks, with the leading concern being electrocution hazards if high-voltage cables are exposed to bare metal, passengers, or
