The movie “The Hunger Games” series has always been my favorite. And now I have just read the origin novel of “The Hunger Games” which made me feel very inspired and I also learnt what is courage, independence and love.

From the description in the book, Katniss seems strong and courageous, but actually I can feel her fear through the book. Before the reaping, Gale planned to escape from District 12 to live in the forest with her, but she refused because she was afraid of being caught and incriminate her impoverished family. When only sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen stepped forward to take her sister’s place in the Hunger Games, she was expected to be given a death sentence. There are many kinds of love in this book – family love, love between teenagers, friendship and love from enemies. Family love is the most obvious one – Katniss volunteering to be the tribute and taking care of her family were family love. Teenage love was one of the most essential factors that helped Katniss and Peeta win the game. This memory has a very detailed description in the novel – once Katniss could not find food even though she searched a moderately wealthy family’s trash can. She weakly fell down under a tree, thinking of herself and her family facing the fate of death. Then she saw Peeta’s mother beating him because he burnt a bread. Peeta seemingly threw away the long strip of burnt bread, in fact deliberately threw it to Katniss. She brought the bread home, surprising found that only the outermost layer was burnt, the inside is full of nuts and raisins. Her family survived the darkest time with this bread. Another moment that moved me was after the Hunger Games, Katniss said they don’t have to pretend to be lovers, Peeta looked at her in astonishment and said in disappointment, “I am not pretending.” Peeta said he loved Katniss in the interview, allying with the career tributes to protect Katniss, finally giving up his life to trade for Katniss’s life was all because he truly loved her, but Katniss never found out his love until they both win the game.
