The human imagination is a very powerful thing. It sets humanity apart from the rest of the creatures that roam the planet by giving them the ability to make creative choices. The imaginary world is unavoidably intertwined with the real world and there are many ways by which to illustrate this through literature, either realistically or exaggerated. Almost everything people surround themselves with is based on the unreal. Everything from the food we eat to the books we read had to have been thought of by someone and their imagination. The imagination empowers humans.^1 It allows people to speculate or to see into the future. It allows artists to create, inventors to invent, and even scientists and mathematicians to solve problems. The film display the same type of “what if” writing, but applied to the genre of science fiction and explores both the limits of the human mind and the frightening possibilities of what machines may be capable of. The basis for the whole story is that of what if what is thought of as reality is someone or something else’s imagination. In the story, the world that most people live in is a kind of virtual reality for the mind while the body is grown for the sole reason of fuelling the machines. All this came about when humanity invented artificial intelligence, they gave machines the power of choice. Now that the machines could choose, they could use their imagination to rebel against their creators and rule the world. Humanity fought back and blocked the sun (the machines’ source of power) in an attempt to stop them. But the machines used their imagination to think of a new fuel. They made people living batteries, because of all the energy they generate to live, and grew them in fields of crops of healthy bodies and fed them the liquefied dead while their minds were kept active and alive in a virtual reality. The film, because the machines are declared “intelligent” once they are able to choose, gives the theory that the imagination equals intelligence, like Northrop Frye’s theory. Humans use their imagination to shape reality. Frye says that the human imagination can change the natural world into a man-made, or human, world. The more imagination one possesses, the more they have the power to change the
The movie "Matrix" is drawn from an image created almost twenty-four hundred years ago by the greek philosopher, Plato in his work, ''Allegory of the Cave''.The Matrix is a 1999 American-Australian film written and directed by the Wachowski brothers. Plato, the creator of the Allegory of the Cave was a famous philosopher who was taught by the father of philosophy Socrates. Plato was explaining the perciption of reality from others views to his disciple Aristotle. The Matrix and the Allegory of the Cave share a simmilar relationship where both views the perciption of reality, but the Matrix is a revised modern perciption of the cave. In this comparison essay I am going to explain the similarities and deifferences that the Matrix and The Allegory of the Cave shares. In the Matrix, the main character,Neo,is trapped in a false reality created by AI (artificial intelligence), where as in Plato's Allegory of the Cave a prisoner is able to grasp the reality of the cave and the real life. One can see many similarities and differences in the film and the allegory. The most important similarity was between the film and the Allegory is the perception of reality.Another simmilarity that the movie Matrix and the Allegory of the Cave shares is that both Neo and the Freed man are prisoners to a system. The most important difference was that Neo never actually lived and experienced anything, but the freed man actually lived and experinced life.
Overall, fiction novels should be authorized to be in the school curriculum. Figment of imagination helps students connect more with the real world and find a solution to the challenges encountered. Students are open to different perspectives of life and learn to be creative and open minded. Lessons like making life and death decisions, telling the truth and the true meaning of friendship
In my opinion, I am familiar with Albert Einstein as he said: “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.” Again, I want to affirm that even celebrities like Albert Einstein and Dr. Wayne Dyer appreciate all silly thought of human being because our imagination is powerful to help us realize any wish if we know how to manipulate it. Imagination is a prediction for future, an abundant creation, and an ability to dream awake.
What role will computers play in the future? What happens when artificial intelligence gets to the point of actually allowing machines to give birth to original thoughts, or suppose artificial intelligence became identical or superior to human intelligence? While attempting to answer these thought-provoking questions deeper questions arise that are more pertinent in our lives such as what defines being human, or as Morpheous says, “What is…real?” The Matrix as well as the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, by Phillip K. Dick, attempt to answer these questions through different matrices. These matrices are implemented into stories to provoke thought and ask the question, what if?
Overall, imagination can result in a positive way and a negative way. Imaginations allow us to become a whole new person. Just like how Tim O’Brien used imagination to create a whole new himself. It gave him the power to do anything he want to do such as looking at dead bodies and being able to actually kill someone. O’Brien shows us the power of imagination and storytelling through his novel, “The Things They Carried.”
Imagination allows for one to explore deeper into their faith than what would be possible in the physical world. Brueggemann describes imagination in faith as inevitable because it is bound to happen when trying to understand that of which is beyond physical means; also when one relates the stories of an ancient world to present day circumstances.
Imagination sets people from the real world by giving them the ability to form creative choices. Imagination empowers humans, in away to allow people to create art and
imagination. It exists in the mind in virtue of the nature of the human mind.
In 1999 Larry and Andy Wachowski wrote and directed an American science fiction action film called The Matrix. The movie depicted a future where many humans might perceive is real, is actually a simulated reality. The Wachowski brothers made many explicit references in their film based on the work of French sociologist Jean Baudrillard. In Jean Baudrillard’s essay entitled “Simulacra and Simulations” he mentions in his essay how society has replaced all reality and meaning with representation of symbols and signs.
...n against machine in a noticeably strained battle, but they also despise that the humans are more machine like than they ponder, and that the machine possesses human qualities as well. The humans, for their part, are as persistently compelled as machines. The incredible fighting skills and superhuman strength of the character seem to put them in machine type category. It showed how dependent man and machine actually are, or might be. One terror of fake intelligence is that technology will trap us in level of dependency. It emphasized the idea that artificial intelligence enslaves the human race. With the time we people are also becoming slaves of the machines that we have created. In time people will be so dependent on machines that they can no longer survive without them. This is the implicit idea of the film matrix, idea which hardly people would have noticed.

J.R. Tolken wrote “Lord of the Rings” by sitting in his backyard and imagining everything coming to life.^2 He thought about all the “what if” possibilities. But this method of storytelling can be used in much more subtle and/or sophisticated ways than in science fiction or fantasy novels. Through such works as the short story Dreams and the novel “Headhunter” by Timothy Findley, the film “the Matrix”, and the short story the Telltale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe, one can see how a writer can use the concept of the imaginary invading reality to write their story.
and can leave oneself with an illusory existence. The imagination can be present in many forms and can aid in the healthy development of oneself in all stages of life.
In this essay, I aim to discuss the issue whether imagination is more important than knowledge. “For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there will ever be to know and understand” (Albert Einstein).
The imagination is an extremely powerful force. It has the power to create, to comfort, to ruin, and to destroy. It has any ability that is placed upon it, and can save a person from a terrible fate if used actively and in earnest. This largely overrated part of our most basic being can change everything we know about our lives, and substitute it with better alternatives for ourselves. As Mythbusters co-host Adam Savage has famously said, “I reject your reality and substitute it for my own.” In The Dreamer by Pam Muñoz Ryan, Neftalí uses his extremely vivid and potent imagination as a tool to escape from the harshness of the reality he finds himself in, creating a better revised edition in which he is able to take solace.
...es. Hence, they pen down stories that are fictional. Imagination plays an important role in the field of literature. Imagination can make a positive as well as a negative world. When one imagines that the world is going to an end. This is negative thinking. Imagination is an important aspect in the field of art. You put down your thoughts by combining whatever you have imagined. Imagination leads to originality and is always appreciated. As kids, one imagined of becoming various things. We were completely lost in our thoughts. For example, we imagine animals talk like humans. It all changed when we grew up. Now we know that it’s not possible.
