In 1939 the Nazi government started World War II by attacking Poland. It soon conquered most of Europe. Great Britain, Russia, and the United States fought against the Nazis and eventually defeated them. Millions of people died in the war the Nazis had started. The Nazis murdered about 12 million civilians, including almost all the Jews who lived under German rule (Trueman). Nazi Germany played almost every role in the Holocaust, as they had created it. Their main goal or role was to gain power and eliminate the Jews (Huebsch).

The Nazis were the group that Hitler led to destroy the Jews and rise to power (Trueman). Nazism is the political and social doctrine of Hitler and his followers (Tames 6). The word Nazi is short for the National Socialist German Workers Party (Trueman). Nazism was part of the dictatorial political movement called fascism (Feldman 26) The Nazis were extreme nationalist who believed in the superiority of the Germans and other members of the so-called Aryan race (Tames 10). The Nazis worked to strengthen German military might in order to bring the world under German control (10). The Nazis also believed in a totalitarian government, where all opposition was opposed (10). Under the rule of Hitler the Nazis hated the Jews and blamed them for all their misfortune (Why the Jews). The Nazis were anti-Semitic and thought of the Jews as weaklings and wanted to destroy their race (Nardo 19). Even though the Nazis were so cruel in their ways and tactics so many people turned and followed them (Huebsch).

People followed the Nazis and their new party because they brought hope (Vail). The Germans were in a great depression because of the recent defeat of World War I (Nardo 33). The people of Germany were sufferin...

The Nazis had tried to gain control of the world and destroy a whole race (Tames). The Nazis evil plot to wipe out the Jews had a lasting impact on the world. Over six million Jews were killed alone and still other minorities were also destroyed (Huebsch). Some people in the world try to say the holocaust never happened, while others are still shocked and disgusted that one man could kill so many people (Bachrach 3). The world will never be the same as every where there are signs of this horrible event called the Holocaust (Wigoder). The Holocaust will be in everyone’s mind as long as we remain.
