Jean Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville Founded them isolated port in New Orleans, the capital of Louisiana in 1718. The original name was “Nouvelle Orleans” before it became known as it is today as New Orleans. New Orleans is in a desirable and challenging location for a city. The place known as the melting pot of a port town is situated between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain. The French Quarter is the land between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain during the colonial time. The French Quarter is known to be called “Quarter” by the citizens of New Orleans. In French, French Quarter is “Vieux Carre” and it is considered the heart and soul of New Orleans. The Quarter is where the neighbors welcome the visitors in the streets, and it is also the culture hub. In 1722, New Orleans became the capital of the French Colony. It is seen as the culture hub because of the mixture of architecture from Spanish, French, Creole, and American Styles. The cause of the colonial melting pot is because of the different people who had control over New Orleans, traumatic events that drove people to settle in New Orleans, the mating of the settlers with other ethnicity and because it was becoming a major . The different events that took place resulted in the melting pot of New Orleans.
The French was the first to have control of New Orleans (1718-1764). The French sent prisoners, slaves, and bonded servants to have a population in the new settlement. John Law sweet talked the Duc d’Orleans to give him a 25-year charter, to explore the new territory . He did not go alone he took some Europeans with him, he lied to the Europeans saying that there was gold where they would be heading if they decided to go with Law. During this tim...

When France was in control the French people followed, because the place was developed enough for them and they were able to put a mark on the city. Following the French, came the Spanish which would be nothing but right because Spain took over having the people to migrate to where there people have control. When revolutions, different religion discords started happening it lead more and more people to the city of New Orleans. With all this happening it was mixing people together and was causing this melting pot to the city of New Orleans. During the colonial era New Orleans had so many different cultures present, and with the differences together it did cause controversy with the mixture of people. Even though they were all mixed together the city still made it through.
