Recommended: history of the founding of Israel

The United States is been one of the most powerful countries ever exists. The history about Israel goes from the time of Christ up to today’s relationship with other countries in a peaceful manner. Israel have a lot of conflict with their suppose brothers that surround them. Still, they have the time to negotiate and be a better country for the new generation. That why today they can be thankful to be part of allied forces with the United States. Israel, slightly larger than Massachusetts, lies at the eastern end of the Mediterranean Sea. Israel is surrounding by Egypt on the west, Syria and Jordan on the east, and Lebanon on the north. Its maritime plain is extremely fertile. The southern Negev region, which comprises almost half the total area, is largely a desert. The Jordan, the only important river, flows from the north through Lake Hule (Waters of Merom) and Lake Kinneret (also called Sea of Galilee or Sea of Tiberias), finally entering the Dead Sea 1,349 ft (411 m) below sea level—the world's lowest land elevation (Berman).
HISTORY
The history of Israel is unique, commence years ago with the bible. Is mention that the book of Genesis through Acts are the pillars of this country creation. Israel have a unique background when it comes to Christian. But at the same time we see how the progress for this country growth since they came part of the United Nation, and be allied with the United States. We can said that Israel is the nations that is known as the scriptural history (Thomas S. McCall). Even thought with the terrorism that is happening in the middle east, Israel is a trusty country that not only keep us surprise with the history before and after Christ, but because the location, is a perfect asset for the armed forces of the United States. For U.S., Israel is a important asset, no because their contribution, but the heritage that we share.

    Paul Johnson's A History of the Jews is probably the finest popular history of the Jewish people written in the English language, since its content is so terrifically enriched. The book is maybe written 15 years ago, but the exploration of the Jewish made it an incredible document. That is also a reason why they do reprints (My edition is the first one with the white cover) Johnson's history begins with the Bible and ends with the establishment of the State of Israel. And for that matter, it has remained popular since its appearance to public in 1987, even though many books, school manuals and popular histories have come out since then. What Johnson did with his book is that he has written it with passion which helps readers a lot to understand the drama of Jewish history. The words that Paul uses in his context are easy to understand, that helped me a lot to imagine the scene in my head during my reading. For example, the details that he used to describe this World War 2 holocaust scene are so realistic that I find it disturbing: "About 250 Jews were massacred by the guards, but twenty-seven escaped. Four Jewish girls who got the explosives in were tortured for weeks, but gave no information. Roza Robota, who died under torture, gave as her last message: "Be strong and brave." Two of them survived the torture to be hanged in front of all women in Auschwitz, one of them with the cry `Revenge! As she died." (P510)
