Background: William Shakespeare was born April 1564 in Stratford-on-Avon, England. He was married to Anne Hathaway and had three kids. Their kids were Susanna, Judith, and Hamnet. His son Hamnet died at the age of eleven three years before his play of Hamlet. Shakespeare was known for being an actor, a playwright, and founder of a theatre company. Some say he was a totally different person when he was acting compared to writing. Macbeth is a mixture of ambition, evil, and guilt. Prophecy, violence, and blood seep make this one of the most brutal of Shakespeare 's works. The play uses historical facts , like the kingships of Duncan and Macbeth, to make a story of regicide, corruption, and consequences that reveal the darkness of a man’s soul.…show more content…
In the beginning he was a warrior hero who earned the respect of his king on the battlefield. He was quite humble until he heard of the prophecies and one came true. From then his human qualities of desire and ambition come out because when Duncan announces that Malcolm will be king next Macbeth becomes frustrated. From then his wife mocks his manliness when Macbeth is confused about killing Duncan (“And live a coward in thine own esteem, Letting 'I dare not ' wait upon 'I would, ' Like the poor cat i ' the adage?”). He deals with his conscience and fights the pros and cons (“Besides, this Duncan Hath borne his faculties so meek, hath been So clear in his great office, that his virtues Will plead like angels, trumpet-tongued, against The deep damnation of his taking-off”.) But later on he becomes cruel to assert his manliness over his wife by taking charge and killing anyone who gets in his way. This line is very ironic. Macduff says that she will not be able to handle the news of what 's happened. He says that it should not be repeated. But what he doesn 't know is that she was part of the murder. She planned it and helped in it. She already knows of the murder.

Act III: Banquo suspects Macbeth for the murder of the king. Macbeth then feels threatened by him and hires criminals to kill Banquo and his son. In the act his son fleas and gets away. Macbeth then holds a dinner and sees the ghost of Banquo and starts to freak out. Lady Macbeth covers the act up by saying he is just sick. Macduff doesn’t show because he has headed to England to gain help because he suspects Macbeth.
