A Comparison of the Heroes, Odysseus, Jason and Aeneas Odysseus is unique among epic heroes in that his strength comes not from inhuman powers or exceptional physical ability, but mainly from his mind. Odysseus, regularly uses cunning, guile, and superiority of intellect to overcome obstacles. In this paper I will compare Odysseus to other epic heroes, both in terms of character and in terms of responses to crises, comparing his reactions with those of other heroes placed in similar situations. The first hero I will compare him to is Jason, who had a similar adventure. His adventure was made to claim a throne that was rightfully his, just like Odysseus' adventure to get home to Ithaca and regain his throne. They both faced many perils on the sea, and both persevered to reach the end of the journey and gain the throne. Jason's uncle Pelias had usurped the throne of Iolchus (much as Penelope's suitors threatened to do), which Jason had a legitimate claim to. Pelias wanted to get rid of him, but dared not to kill him outright. So, he agreed to abdicate the throne if Jason would journey and get the golden fleece, which was at a temple in Colchis (on the Black Sea). Pelias expected the voyage to be fatal, for it had danger at every step. However, Jason called for and received an impressive roster of heroes to aid him on his journey. Jason set out for, and made it safely to, Colchis. Once there, he was received by the resident king, Aeetes. Aeetes was used to getting visitors who had come for the fleece, and had devised a test for getting rid of them. He had a standing challenge to give up the fleece to anyone who could tame two fire-breathing bulls and then use them to plow a field with dragon's teeth. Jason was confounded by how to pass this trial and was saved at the last moment by Aeetes' daughter Medea, who gave him a potion of wild herbs that would protect him from the fire. With the help, Jason easily tamed the bulls, and began to sow the field, but noticed that where he had put the teeth, soldiers were springing up from the ground. Jason hid from them, but then came up with a plan for getting rid of

Opposed to that of common thought, superman is not the only type of character that fits the heroic persona. Although “superheroes” typically come to mind when one thinks of a hero, there are many other ordinary people capable of extraordinary things. A hero is a person who takes the initiative to set out on a journey of internal growth. During this symbolic journey, one truly finds himself and betters the lives of other mentally and physically. In Homer’s epic poem The Odyssey, Odysseus takes the path of heroism, resulting in the reborn spirit of a selfless, modest hero. During the process, Odysseus is faced with many challenges that he must overcome in order to earn the noble title. Odysseus proves himself to be a well-deserving hero because he is intelligent with his decisions, he displays cleverness, and he rids himself of hubris.

Medea unlike the other two females was a murderer. She murdered her own brother, Jason's wife, Kreon, and her own children. She was also a sorcerer who used her power mostly for evil.
Access Mental Health was contacted to speak with Patterson, Jason and they responded to the hospital. They spoke with him and created a safety plan with Clerici, Crystal and Jason. Jason was taken home after this was completed.
But now all is enmity, and love's bonds are diseased. For Jason, abandoning his own children and my mistress, is bedding down in a royal match, having married the daughter of Creon, ruler of this land. [20] Poor Medea, finding herself thus cast aside, calls loudly on his oaths, invokes the mighty assurance of his sworn right hand, and calls the gods to witness the unjust return she is getting from Jason. She lies fasting, giving her body up to pain, [25] wasting away in tears all the time ever since she learned that she was wronged by her husband, neither lifting her face nor taking her eyes from the ground. She is as deaf to the advice of her friends as a stone or a wave of the sea: [30] she is silent unless perchance to turn her snow-white neck and weep to herself for her dear father and her country and her ancestral house. All these she abandoned when she c...
There are numerous heroes throughout “The Odyssey,” but none of them are as significant as Odysseus. “The Odyssey” is a narrative poem written by Homer (around 800 and 600 BCE) to show the numerous adventures and experiences Odysseus goes through. Throughout the Odyssey, Odysseus a prominent Greek epic hero is on a quest to return back to his home in Ithaca; to his wife Penelope, and his son Telemachus. Just like real life, not all heroes are picture-perfect; they all have imperfections. In this case, Odysseus is sometimes insolent, and discourteous; but he is still considered an epic hero because of the many heroic qualities he endures. Odysseus proves himself to be an outstanding hero in various ways such as showing loyalty, intelligence, bravery, strength, and courage which are all some of the most momentous qualities found in a hero. If a true hero can prove they are a true hero, makes them a true hero.
Jason was able to successfully meet all three challenges with help from Medea. Jason, the Argonauts, and Medea fled from Cholchis after retrieving the Golden Fleece with the king and his men in pursuit.
Simon became upset that he could not obtain a higher rank of overseer as Onias II was against him . Having gained no ground, Simon went to the Seleucid government and spoke with Menestheus and told him of the large amount of funds the temple held and these funds may help the king out . So Seleucus IV who was in financial problem due to giving money to Rome, decided to send Heliodorus, his prime minster, to acquire the funds . However, he was unable to do so as Onias III tricked him into thinking that angels had whipped him as he entered the temple, and so he fled and returned to the king empty handed . The fighting intensified between Simon and Onias with a likely outcome of war between the two opposing forces. Each running to the Seleucids government for assistance and for backing. Onias III went to see the king to sort out the dispute, but he died (175 BC). A new king was appointed Antiochus IV, and with him Onias’ III brother, Jason plotted against him and convinced the new King to appoint him as the high priest instead, by bribing him with the promise of money and with the idea of Hellenising the Jewish people in Jerusalem . After Jason came to Hellenise the people, a new rival Menelaus entered the scene in 171 BC to claim Jason’s role as high priest. He was not qualified to be a high priest, but Menelaus was more power hungry and corrupt and harboured a hatred of the Jewish people. He stole from the Jewish people’s temple in order to obtain the money he promised to the king with the help of his brother Lysimachus . The people rose up against Lysimachus for robbing their temple and killed him . However, Menelaus most probably wanted to revenge his brother’s death told the King, of the great treasure that the temple held in
In conclusion, the three significant ways in which Odysseus fits the role of an epic hero are his skills of intelligence, the use of perseverance and his performance of bravery. Then he roared. He assumed his dragon form. He slowly penetrated her. Elen gasped at the pleasure. There was no pain. Jason’s hard dragon lips kissed Elen’ soft mortal lips. He began to move slowly. Elen softly moaned with each loving thrust. Elen’s hips began to move with his, encouraging him on. Jason increased his speed. Their bodies dug deeper into the blood and mud with thousands of dead bodies around them. Elen moaned louder with passion. Jason put his weight on her to increase the forcefulness of his love. The jagged scales titillated Elen’s breast. Elen gasped in rhythmic “Ah. Ah. Ah” with Jason’s hard thrusting. She stared lovingly with her red-tinted eyes into his bright purples. A penny with the tails side up should be turned over for another person to find. On the other hand, many people believe any penny you find is good luck. You may hear people repeat rhymes such as: "Find a penny, pick it up. All day long, you'll have good luck." Long, long ago, many ancient people believed that metals, including the copper that was used to make pennies, were gifts from the gods. They thought that these metals were given to them by the gods for their protection. This is more than likely where the belief that finding a penny will bring you good luck comes from. Along with good luck, pennies also increase your wealth, not by much, but every penny
