A tale of love, mystery, betrayal, and revenge can be best used to describe one of the most intriguing books ever written “The Great Gatsby” Written by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The Legacy of Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald all began on September 24th when he was born in St. Paul Minnesota. His first piece of literature came when he was just 13 writing a detective story for his school newspaper. His father noticed he had an immense amount of talent for writing and encouraged him to pursue his writing career. During the “Jazz age” He appeased his income by writing stories for the Esquire, Colliers’ weekly, and the Saturday Evening Post. One of Fitzgeralds downfalls was he was a heavy drinker. This bad habit led to his death at the young age of 44. Although Fitzgerald is remembered for writing many great books, he is most remembered by his book “The Great Gatsby”.

The book The Great Gatsby begins with a man named Nick Carraway who rents a house in the West Egg district of Long island. Nick seems like kind of an outcast because West Egg is housed by many rich people who became rich so quickly that they have not made very many social connections. Nick is introduced to his new, very mysterious, next door neighbor, a man by the name of Jay Gatsby. Mr. Gatsby lives a very extraordinary life in a gigantic mansion throwing parties every saturday night. This puzzles Nick and a lot of suspicion and questions arise. Introduced next in the story is Daisy Buchanan, Nicks cousin, and her husband Tom Buchanan. They introduce Nick to Jordan Baker who he begins to have an infatuation for. It is also brought to nicks attention that Tom is having an affair with a women named Myrtle Wilson. They all go to a party and Myrtle starts to threaten ...

...'t. Although this book may require you to look up definitions of words on occasion, it’s worth every bit of it to better your experience and fully understand the deep concept of the book. There are many lessons to take away from reading this book pertaining to love, friendships, and life in general. If you are specifically focused one thing, such as becoming rich, or obtaining the love of a certain girl, this book will really make you rethink your life choices and make you focus more heavily on close relationships with people who really care about you. After reading this book you will want to reinvent yourself into a better human being like what Jay Gatsby did and thats why I think if you take anything away from this book, it should be that it’s never too late to reinvent yourself.
