Recommended: Great fire of london narrative

As once posted on Funky, a blog about the latest news, "Fire from the heart of London spreads through the blood of it's veins, making history from ashes" (“Metaphor…” quote #6). In 1666, the Great Fire of London destroyed and turned everything in its path to ashes and is remembered as one of the most historical devastations of Great Britain. The September fire lasted approximately four days. There are a number of different reasons why this fire was so destructive including a lack of response, building material, and of how close the buildings were together. There are other reasons but those three were the most significant. There were also theories regarding the number 666.
Many people believed that the number, 666, was superstitious. One year before the fire, a man by the name of Michel de Nostredame predicted that in the year 1666, there would be a great fire. Michel de Nostredame, or Nostradamus, was a Frenchman who lived in the 16th century. Some called him a ‘seer’, as he studied astrology and different sciences to predict the future. When he predicted the Great Fire of London he said, “The blood of the just will commit a fault at London, Burnt through lighting of twenty threes the six: The ancient lady will fall from her high place, Several of the same sect will be killed” (“Top 10…” No. 9). The “six” in the quote refers to either the six documented deaths or the year the fire occurred. “The ancient lady” is a reference to London. Others pointed to the writings of John the Evangelist to support the idea that the number six hundred sixty-six identified a particular beast.
