These new jobs would lower The United States’ unemployment rate by a full 1%. Investing in clean energy would generate three times as many jobs by switching from non-renewable to renewable energy sources ("The Economic Benefits of Investing in Clean Energy"). Increased employment means less people relying on the government which would lower taxes and, in turn, allow Americans to keep more of their money. This would increase consumer spending. In order to make sure the economy can continue to grow, it is a priority to secure energy independence.
Although solar power has existed for many years now, this increasingly cost efficient form of technology has just recently begun to gain traction with the main utility companies. In terms of kilowatts, solar power still remains relatively expensive over traditional sources of energy such as natural gas and propane. However the cost continues to decline rapidly, and the efficiency of this alternative energy source is projected to surpass coal and natural gas companies entirely. I believe that, along with minimal risk, progressing more into solar energy as the worlds main source of power could benefit us both short term and long term. Companies and homeowners that have solar panels already, are experiencing a better relationship with their utility providers.

With its inefficiency, scientists are trying to find alternative solution to store solar cells for as long as possible. The main process of capturing solar energy happens at the nanoscale. With solar cells, it gets more efficient the tinier it gets. The converting rate of solar energy is equally price competitive as fossil fuel, with a dollar per watt of solar energy. With the help of nanotechnology, it could help raise solar energy conversion efficiency and help lower costs making it the ultimate method of raw energy conversion.
Examples of alternative energy are nuclear, solar, wind, and hydroelectric power. As you might have guessed the sun is the biggest alternative energy source because the sun is a necessary component in the natural processes. How can alternative energy sources be beneficial for the environment without being costly? “Studies indicate that energy efficiency technologies cost substantially less than building or purchasing new energy supply.” ("The benefits," 2009) In addition, “Energy efficiency also helps minimize the need to build new and expensive power plants.” ("The benefits," 2009) As well as, “Reducing usage lowers operating costs and can help make industry, farms, and merchants more economically competitive.
