Technology Through Time
Technology is always advancing in society. The Internet is one of the most tremendous forms of information and communication used in the 20th century. In many ways, technology has become a part of our ethnical principles in everyday life. Today’s generation is welcomed to what is known as “The Golden Age of Technology”. It has come to the point where people result to digital confrontation, or texting, over face-to-face confrontation. Such rules have yet to be established on the limits of when texting should be used. In order to prevent the scenario from prolonging in society a person needs to ignore and block out the triggers. These triggers are what makes someone want to use a technological device. In Max Ogles article, he shares a few tips on how to help with these triggers when using a cell phone, “Phones have a variety of different triggers and they’re nearly inescapable. You might have alert sounds for multiple different apps, vibrations, and notifications onscreen. Even when the sound is off, you can see your phone light up from several feet away and instinctively reach for it.” (Ogles para. 23). All in all, to weaken the habit, turn off the triggers. The world is being engulfed into the electronic age of computers, Internet and self-thinking software’s. A proposed question would be whether this evolution into a technology-based world is truly contributing to the world's development. If being considered as a tool, then the answer would be yes; technology is a very powerful and profound contributing factor in education, politics, medicine, and as a facet in work areas. For example, schools are starting to shift in to online teaching styles rather than textbooks and paper. Schools should require students to be able to perform public speaking and work-like environment social skills to prepare them for their next step in life and prevent this world into becoming anti-social.
