In Lois Lowry’s book The Giver Jonas’ utopian society kids are watched from birth, then assigned jobs. These jobs are called “assignments”. These assignments are based off of the person’s individual personalities. The assignments are assigned very carefully to make sure everybody is happy and there’s no conflict in the community. An assignment is chosen the elders. The elders are a group of people who are in charge of their community. This would not work in our society however, if I were to be assigned a job it would be as a nurturer An assignment is chosen by the elders and the chief elder. They watch the children and everything they do since they were newborns. They watch everything from what they play with as children to where they do
