Most books have a movie to go with them. For example “The Giver”, the giver has a book and a movie to go with it. The Giver is written by a well-known author named Lois lowry. The book and the movie were not word for word the same but they both were still interesting to read and watch. The book and the movie had some big and small differences and similarities. Today i’m only gonna inform you about the big differences and similarities.

The Movie and the book had two main big similarities that were noticed the most. During The Graduation ceremony to receive your assigned job Jonas the main character was skipped and filled with nervousness and fear. In the book “The Giver” it states, “He was sitting in seat marked nineteen but she had skipped him.” This statement from the book “The Giver shows jonas was skipped in the book. In the movie it is a sense showing jonas standing along the stage with all his other classmates and as the chief elder gets to jonas number she skips to number twenty. Similarity number two,as jonas runs away to release all memories jonas goes to the nurturing center and kidnaps baby gabe to take with him along the way. In the text of “The Giver”,the book, it states “And he had taken Gabriel,too.” This shows Jonas took baby gabe along with him on his journey. …show more content…

One big difference that was noticed was, in the book jonas recognized baby gabe by his pale eyes similar to his but in the movie it shows a sense of jonas recognizing baby gabe by his birthmark on his wrist similar to his. In the book “The Giver” it states, “Gabriel has pale eyes like jonas.”This shows baby gabe as pale eyes similar to jonas in the book. In the movie jonas recognized baby gabe by his birthmark on his wrist similar to the birthmark on jonas wrist. In the movie it’s where it shows jonas lifting baby gabes wrist and see both of their birthmarks. These are some of the biggest differences in the book the
