In The Geeks Shall Inherit the Earth: Popularity, Quirk Theory, and Why Outsiders Thrive After High School, Alexandra Robbins follows seven people throughout the school year and provides in-depth explanation with the help of psychology and science behind the conception about popularity and isolation. Robbins defines the Quirk Theory: the differences that cause a student to be excluded in school but are the same traits that will be valued, lived, and respected about that person is adulthood and outside of the school setting. Putting up her barriers because of her early years Danielle was able to commit and focus on her passion and interests, she found various positions in clubs she was in. With his self-awareness and acknowledgement of emotions Noah was able to encourage other students from various social groups to help recycle and his sense of responsibility will ultimately be valued even outside of school. Joy’s positivity despite being bullied for being Jamaican shows levels of maturity although her young age and will be noticed with no trouble. Despite being urged to be “normal” by his mother and ridiculed by his peers Eli’s determination and earnestness, shows that he will stay on the course he believes no matter what. Being bashed for her sexual orientation and openness in school, Reagan will be able to be the warm acceptance and knowledge many people appreciate in time of hardships. Being excluded for her sense of style and desire to befriend others besides the prep, Whitney was able to shift her view away from the hurtful actions the prep used against everyone; instead started to treat others the way she would want to be, her social skills and charisma enabled to easily befriend others and will be helpful even outside of
